If America doesn't want its lunar ambitions hobbled by prohibitive launch costs, it should consider ditching Artemis and looking at a plan built around Starship.

4k for a photo is not high resolution, You are confused by video.

The original photo, perhaps. Or even higher. But the video resolution is 1080p so that's the highest you'll get with that. Sometimes if pre-processing is done right and one hasn't compressed the footage before uploading (as in, you upload the raw footage or image), the perceived quality will be optimal in comparison to other videos with the same resolution, but it'll still always be maximum 1080p quality.

@@TheKalle45 I think the exploration of outer space is a noble and fascinating cause and that we should always have the mindset of furthering it in the name of humanity's collective knowledge and accomplishment. However, I do get your point. Better to solve conflicts we have here on Earth before space wars have a chance to become a thing. Even better to undo the ecological devastation we are responsible for before we are forced to leave for space because Earth is no longer habitable (though I will say that satellites can be used to monitor our progress in saving the planet from up above).

You are only seeing a very small area of the Moon. To an average height person the horizon on the Moon is only 3 miles away or 4.8 kilometres which is 52% nearer than on Earth.

@@hanfucolorful9656 NASA's spokepersons (not "chiefs", whatever that is), are often making dumb claims. This event has been showered with claims about "dark side" which is absolute hogwash. Regolith on Moon is certainly very dark, akin to asphalt, but it's like that everywhere.

It's the same soil as the near side so it must be something to do with either the camera, position of the Sun or the processing of the image.

The two sides are quite different in appearance - intense cratering on the far side and more mare (‘seas’) and some massive craters on the side we see. But yes, same soil. Image processing could be a factor too.
