Another Great Quality "How to Video". Thank you for showing us the way. I have been waiting to see other videos of you using your new toy (the car lift). I am trying to justify the purchase of one myself. Can't tell if it lifts the car high enough to get underneath using a crawler. Future video suggestions; #1. How you created all of your custom/specialized tools and how/when you use them (ex: the Coke bottle hand pump & the break bleeder capture bottle. What size is the tube that goes on to the break bleeder valve? I guess I could just review other YT videos for that.) #2. A video replacing The Rear Emergency Brake Pads. Again, Thank you for taking the time to video document your maintenance and giving us the knowledge & understanding to decide if we should do this ourselves or take it to a trusted mechanic. I just get so excited to learn more about this beautiful car I have purchased and know that I can review your videos before I tackle most maintenance chores.

There is no schedule for this in the owners manual. But based on the fluid condition for each component I would say every 50K to 60K for the rear diff and front diff and transfer case I don't think will need it as often as the rear diff. The fluid condition for the front diff and transfer case was not as dirty as the rear diff. Fortunately the rear diff is easy to to change fluids on and the fluid is not expensive. I would just buy new plug seal washers for it next time. DISCLAIMER Now remember, I am just a backyard mechanic with enough confidence in my skills and having done the necessary research to perform regular maintenance and repairs on my 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 myself and post the videos on youtube. With the exception of engine oil changes, I had never before performed any the services or repairs on a Maserati Ghibli SQ4 you see in my videos until then. It was my first time. If I seem like I am trying to look like an expert, it is wholly unintentional because I admit I am not.

My front diff fluid looked new when I changed mine. I haven't done rear yet. That's coming up. As for how your fluid looked... Yea, it was bad. The gunk was probably friction material. Nothing to worry about, expected wear and tear.

Its in the owners manual. Every 3 years or 37,500 miles.

Hi James, my comment comes quite a bit after you posted this. However, I now own a 2016 S Ghibli and have just bought a lot of equipment, which I sought inspiration from seeing yours and to have a go at the changes myself. I think your videos are great. Incidentally, two questions spring to mind. (1) can I access the same tech info that I saw on your laptop from somewhere? (2) what size was the rear Diff (drain/fill) plugs and is the Teflon tape the same as plumbers tape. Thanks from Paul in UK

There is no official interval, in fact Maserati states "No service required" . But that's not true. Every 50K miles is good I think.

your the best man ! i love all your videos and they have help me alot on my maserati ghibli sq4 2014 ! oil change brakes pretty much everything 🙌 thanks one question today i was driving my maserati not on sport mode and i press the gas i think a little to quick that the dash board needle kinda when up and down and my engine light when on and engine felt it was idle ! got home parked it i let it rest and turn it on again and is till idle do u think any thing bad might happen ? thank you in advance

Great video. Going to do this myself asap! Could you have just used Mobil 1- 75W90 synthetic gear oli? Also, what size hex is needed for the rear diff?

I suppose you could use that fluid. I believe it was a 10mm hex.

I think it would be easier that way. Easier to see and reach. It's not hard to take the front wheel off.

Between the rear wheels. The fill plug is on the back of the diff, and the drain is on the bottom of the diff.

yes, and hear the difference. I could hear a little gear noise from the rear diff before. Now nothing.

Yes, we are all doing great. Its kinda hard doing videos for a DIY channel when my car is sooooo reliable. I've been driving it every day, not a single issue. Love this car.

i have knocking sound thats coming from under the car from the rear sounded like a flat tire at first but none of my tires are flat then the sound went away but now it doing a sort of cranky clicking metal sound as i pull off slowly while my foot is still at ease on the breaks sound coming from the rear end and as i turn the steering wheel i can here the sond buts its coming from the rear still and then the engine will do a little rumble as if the air intake are not breathing air for like 5second then it stops an when i drive off doing about 30 to 40 sound goes away as i slow down to complete stop then slowly drive off sound comes back and stops at higher speed .....i have maserati ghibli ..please help can power steering cause this or ?

Depends on the year. Please refer to your owners manual. If you do not have one, you can find one in PDF format by Googling it. (Sorry Google, I know you dont like your name being used as a verb, but there are many things you do I dont like so we are even)

hello I just changed the transfer case oil 75w90 Mobile I just realized that I was wrong. I have driven 600km, I am going to replace it with the atf TF0870, do you think I damaged the transfer case? I await your return thank you

Always take out the fill plug first in case you strip out the fill plug.

I will remember next time. I will most likely change the rear diff fluid again in about 10K miles.
