Friction is the prerequisite for change.
Without its presence, our minds lack the motivation to break free of complacency.
Consider friction as the barrier between who we are and who we can become.
It's the friction of dissatisfaction that propels us forward on the path of making changes to create an ideal life experience.
Most people run from friction, which is why they don't change; therefore, the results in their lives stay the same.
"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." - George Bernard Shaw
Change isn't accomplished solely by thought; it occurs when we act in new ways inspired by new thoughts.
When we can change the way we view friction and learn to leverage it, we can change the thoughts we entertain.
When we change the thoughts we circulate in our minds, we can see new ways of showing up.
But that's where the friction shows up again.
Being able to expect and embrace the friction is the difference between those who succeed at making changes in their lives and those who stay stuck.
Change in any aspect of life requires:
1. Investment of time, energy, and money.
2. Sacrificing instant gratification, various opportunities & environments, and mental & physical comfort.
3. Evidence to your unconscious mind that affirms who you're working to become and the life you are working to create.
If you're anything but stoked about your current circumstances, look at how you're contributing to those circumstances.
Once you identify and take ownership of your part, you empower yourself to change.
This is when you can choose to be courageous and take a different life approach.
TLDR; if you want to change your circumstances, change the way you look at them, change the way you think, and change the way you show up and do things. In essence, change your ways of thinking and behaving.
