You've nailed it, Alyssa! I have a largish, collection of clothes - from holding on to my beloveds of old days + op (thrift), vintage & consignment shops. I feel very creative but sometimes falter in my confidence to leave the house in my 'ensembles'.... I get shy, even though I'm often complimented on my style/ outfits & I know lots of people get a kick out of what I've done on the day. You've given me a new level of understanding of the elements & so added confidence to revel in my dressing. Keep up the great work. XX Kitty in Australia.

Your channel led me to "understand" my wardrobe as an extension of me, NOT as a separate entity on its own. I just have a totally different attitude about my closet and my clothes now. They are not my enemy, I see colour, texture, style now. It also amazes me how many outfits I actually have in my small closet. Having my white and black t-shirts from Everlane has been a game changer. They go with so many things and they are the nicest and best quality t-shirts I have ever had.

It sounds like cooking and baking to me. You have your cupboards full of ingredients you love and then you have recipes you love to make. I always pick my outfits by mood. Everyday I ask myself: how do I want to feel today? and all the words that come to my mind, I try to transform into clothes. I am always happy with the outcome! That’s why I don’t really have that „one“ style, because my mood changes all the time. I love it 💕

Yes! I recently realized why a couple of pink/floral jackets weren't working for me, and it's because I like to wear a more feminine top with more masculine bottoms and a masculine jacket. OR, a dress with a more masculine jacket. But the pink and floral jackets add way too much femininity, for me, and I don't like the masculine tops that would pair well with them. Great video as always!

You are my inspiration, my muse for fashion creativity and better understanding my closet! As I watch and listen and then try the method of looking at my clothes as styling pieces, I have become more confident when creating looks for a variety of events. Oh how I love playing in my closet now - sounds funny but I think most of us here truly understand and love all of the possibilities! Yesterday's Shop Your Closet event, my first, was great fun and you are so correct: the better we understand style vibe, silhouette and proportion and learn how to identify our clothing, the easier it becomes to style for ourselves without buying more. This is very helpful thank you. I had put myself on a no buy for fall and winter because of both finances and having a well curated closet of warm clothing. However since last winter I've lost a full clothing size of weight. I'm happy about that but panicking because so many things I thought I would be wearing, I can't. So I have had to buy a couple of things and I'm trying to put together outfits with older items that still fit and new things. I haven't been feeling creative and have felt unsettled instead. Hopefully I can adopt a new way of thinking like what you're describing. Just trying to take it one day at a time making adjustments, piecing together outfits, and changing the no buy to a low buy and enjoying the thrift shopping process.

Wow! You are the best 🙌 I was listningen to you thinking I feel that flirty, sexy in my blue romantic bohimian dress, my natural curly hair. (Rarely used) Then I thought why do I only have one dress and why do I most of the time dress the opposit?? My first gut feeling is it has to do with guarding myself. With the hair in a strikt bun, black trousers and a black blazer I am not getting any comments on how I look, it is my fortress! Soo interesting… you really got me thinking! I have had so many new ways of using my cloths and especially when I see a look I want to have. To be able to do it with the cloths I have and making it my own. Now I think I need to figure out my more true bohimian style and dare to use it more and why I havn’t… Bless you lovely Alyssa 😘❤️🥰

Would you consider making a short video showing a month of OOTD? It doesn't have to have any explaination, just a shot of each day when you are ready to start your day. This is a no pressure request. They talk about constructing identities, storytelling vs self expression, creating your own codes/sensibilities/expectations for dressing, etc...instead of shopping based on FOMO/urgency/anxiety/etc. I think you’d find their perspective on slow fashion interesting!

I would love love love a video on how to put together a stylish outfit in a Canadian winter. Everyone I follow that does style etc lives somewhere else and I just don’t know what to do for this climate. I’m new (ish) to Canada anyway and I really can’t seem to find anything that works in winter besides skinny pants or jeans (otherwise pants get wet and dirty), and a long puffy coat. What other options are there?? Help!

I dress for survival and practicality in the winter in canada - it's too cold to do anything else unless i know i'm going from a car to a specific venue. For me the word “creative” can be a bit loaded and anxiety inducing. However when I give myself permission to Play and ask “what if” and “why not” I end up with new/different perspectives in my wardrobe as well as in life in general.
