Changing a thermostat on a TD42 GQ Nissan Patrol

2 ай бұрынSince I've owned my GQ I've noticed the temp gauge hardly moves off cold - flying against the reputation as a kettle I know but I suspected that either the thermostat has been previously removed, or the old one is just jammed open. So a quick visit to my local auto parts store and I have a new dayco DT42E thermostat (54mm 77degC). Now the auto store parts has linked a Dayco DTG43 gasket to my vehicle however this one is not correct for my vehicle as the bolt hole PCD is too small. I'd welcome any suggestions in the comments on why the gasket may be different.

Nice one man, I was thinking it was going to be cut out or removed but didn't expect it to be seized! Did you give the cooling system a bleed afterwards as well? probably not much chance of too much air getting in though I suppose. Cheers for the shout out mate, bloody legend 🤙👍👍👍

Gave it a bleed, a heat cycle and checked the level again, small top up and good to go again

At least the temp comes up on the gauge now. Still sits a little lower than I was expecting

Give me a break, I didn’t trace it back. Comes out from the front of the engine and heads towards the back what else am I going to figure it’s for 😜
