Күн бұрынIn this video I help a friend out with the brakes on his 2017 Ford Explorer. He was prepared to change them all. But, only the rears needed to be changed.

1:01 - removing front caliper
1:42 - removing front brake pads/checking condition
2:26 - removing front caliper bracket
2:56 - removing rear wheel
3:36 - removing rear caliper
4:28 - inspecting and removing rear brake pads
4:45 - removing rear caliper bracket
5:34 - removing rear rotor (yeesh)
8:10 - installing new rear rotor
9:16 - installing new brake hardware
10:50 - reinstalling rear caliper bracket
11:04 - installing new rear brake pads
11:38 - compressing the rear caliper (special tool)
12:48 - reinstalling the rear caliper
13:32 - repeating the process for the driver side with issues...
15:05 - a trick to compress the rear caliper, more leverage

Great vid sir! Love how it actually shows the realistic stuff that pops up when DIY. The ripped latex glove all me too. I felt that. Looking forward to changing mine tomorrow.

between the rears the front are not the issue its the rears they tend to seize up and the doors itself sometimes the motors fail on them or the receivers for the keyless remote entry which can be a pain i swapped those out too other than that its a decent car the tauruses too are literally the same in design but different platform of chasis. I always say always keep the brake calipers and buy another set so you dont have to get raped with getting a core charge for the remanufactured calipers and brackets and always keep them lubed up even when you get the remanned ones too.

If you had opened the bleed screw would that have made it easier to compress the caliper?

🤔Maybe. But opening the reservoir should be the same thing.

Yes let it be known that the rear brake calipers are known to seize up from time to time
