When I was little, part of me questioned the "pointlessness" of doing all of this just for a slab of marble. But as an adult, it is simply impossible to not respect and admire this extreme level of dedication, once it sinks in that these men and women have been doing this ceremony, without stopping, down to the slightest millimeter, uninterrupted for over a hundred years, and will continue to do it, through however many more hundreds of years we humans remain on this earth. Be it during clear skies, rain, snow, hurricanes, or even the 9/11 attacks, they have done this ceremony and will continue to do this ceremony, potentially until the end of time if need be. Pure respect.
@GamingDrummer89
@GamingDrummer89 Жыл бұрын
Their level of dedication is as admirable and inspiring as anything I've seen. They don't stop at any time, for any reason. And it's not "just for a slab of marble" as many of us misunderstood in our younger years...it's to honor the one buried there, and, in turn, all the unknowns that one soldier represents. They gave up their lives AND identities.

@@masterphoenixharp ...It's from the movie Scent of a Woman. Pacino plays a blind retired soldier. In the scene from which the quote is based, a young man disrespectfully saluted Pacino thinking he won't notice since he's blind. Pacino famously retorted with the quote. You should watch the movie since it's pretty good. I think the original poster referenced the quote to show how respect should be given to soldiers, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

I would want to carry my weapon at trail arms. That bayonet looks like a good lightning rod!

You're familiar with those various line made in the cement over various decades? I even wrote to the Army Corps of Engineers. Response was "We have received thousands of ideas how to erase those marks. Nothing is going to work." Unless the rebuild the Tomb that is walked by Sentinels, and nobody else has access to.

Good morning Jim. Those footprints tell an indelible story of the dedication of Sentinels who have diligently guarded that tomb for 87 years. Who would ever want to erase that testament? Just a note: It is Vermont quarried MARBLE

300 MILLION plus in our good u s a....and only 165,000 views...and 115 subscribers.. 29 thumbs down...880 thumbs up.....wow...Guess Americans don't have any empathy for the lives of the one's who gave their own life so we could type on you tube, and express our minds without recoil or face a firing squad if we say the wrong things.. So sad....This is my tenth time I have been to this page in the last four years...It should have went viral...nope....not today...🤔🤔🤔🤔

Don't know if I just missed it, but I didn't see the inspecting guard check over the rifle when he did the uniform inspection like they normally do. I'm guessing this is because they don't want water getting into the inner parts of the gun?

When it's raining it isn't inspected. Same when cold weather and you wear the heavy black gloves.
