How to change the oil, trans & diff fluid on a C5 corvette. What are the best fluids to install on your C5 corvette. Today we change out the trans, diff & oil on my C5 & we talk about the next upcoming event. I’ll provide you guys with links to all the products & specs down below.

Dexron fluids ( all made by Mobil ) for GM. They are all synthetic, and the gear lube has the limited slip additives already in it.

also is it necessary or recommended to use anti seize, or thread lock for any of these bolts and their torque specs and what not?

Bout to do all these fluids right now I’m on C5 Z06 but a question I have is: is there really a such thing as a best transmission, diff, synthetic engine oil, etc fluids?

Best prob would be AmsOil but you can ask 5 different people & get 5 different answers

Do you have to rinse trans fluid out of pump before filling diff fluid or does it not matter mixing such a small amount?

No need to flush anything out you’ll never get all the old stuff completely out unless it’s apart & cleaned. As long as you wait till it starts dripping & not leaking straight out your good to go.

I set my Mazda 6 on jack towers front end up ⬆️. remove the tranny plug, put the tranny on first gear ⚙️ While the axles are turning Pour transmission oil . when you see new oil come out from the bottom Turn the engine off Put the plug back on it Fill the transmission until the level is correct .

How did these fluids hold up ? I hear different things from different people when asking about which fluids to use. Also did your car ever experience the reverse pop out ?

I haven’t had any issues with these fluids I’ve used. My car has experienced that every since I owned it. I plan on removing the trans this winter & hope to repair that issue. Possibly related to the guides on the reverse fork.

What kind of tires do you have? they look like Yokohamas? and do you like them?

They where Hankook Ventus v12, they were actually really nice set of tires. Don’t have them no more. Currently running Bfgoodrich rivals

Dude you put wrong fluid in your transmission I repeat wrong fluid dexton 3 auto transmission fluid only please remove

He put in the correct fluid , amsoil states that the manual Synchromesh trans fluid meets the Tremec T-56 GM specs. These vehicles are old (I have a 2001) the Dexron 3 ATF is an OLD standard , Amsoils MT oil has superior properties to the old stuff GM was using . The low viscosity helps the oil flow well in the extreme cold while also maintaining superior lubrication and cooling in extreme heat
