about cursed scroll, they changed it around the time of vintage masters to let you click a card in your hand to name it.

Not sure why Pox decks don't run The Rack as at least a one-of? He mentions that pox decks tend to have trouble 'pressing an advantage', and many games with pox decks involve both players being more or less hellbent for a long period before the opponent either stabilizes or the pox player closes the game out...why not put in something that capitalizes on what the deck is already meant to do? It's also a seemingly innocuous turn-1 play that people usually won't bother to counter, then a few turns later those Liliana activations turn into more damage and a shorter clock.

turn 4 of game 2 you could have cast sinkhole and brutality if you played the second urborg.

Seems like exripate, waste not, and pox were pretty weak all 5 matches. Maybe replace some those with more copies of sinkhole?

Just started the video... have you considered Raven's Crime? Possibly as a 1-off. You can turn any sort of land flood into extra discard spells.

I'm just curious on your feelings on this deck in a field full of BUG decks. I'm going to a tournament in the next few weeks and I'm still on the fence about what to play. I'm expecting a lot of BUG and BR reanimator.

G3 at 32:00 ish you did have two black sources, Urborg makes your wasteland in hand a swamp.

You should play a loampox list, its got way more ability to press advantage, the cycling lands and loam, alongside abrupt decays help shore up the issue of do nothing turns, also lingering souls is an awesome way to win a game.

when you cast smallpox game one could you have held priority and cast extripate so smallpox wasn't countered?

Could this deck want a copy of Infernal Darkness in the sideboard? It's basically the Mono Black Blood Moon, except it locks out basic lands too.

meh, too hard to keep around I'm guessing. Between Wasteland, Sinkhole and Smallpox, it seems redundant.

There are also versions of this build that run Crucible of Worlds, which is probably a much better choice if you're set on that route.

so, are the following cards not really important to play a competitive pox, or are they left out because they are so expensive? - tabernacel of pendrell vale - the abyss - chains of mephistopheles for me as noob would be interesting to know,...

Tabernacle is hard to run and still have enough black sources. As it stands, the deck has 16 black sources, which gives it almost exactly a 90% chance to have at least one black source in its opening hand. 90% is generally the rule-of-thumb threshold for things like this. The Abyss is good, but Liliana just embarrasses it. Also, it makes it so you only have Nether Spirit 50% of turns, and it never gets to attack. Chains is a decent sideboard card.

thanks, that sounds reasonable, because of all the creature-removal effects (smallpox, etc.) tabernacle is also not really needed here yep. (not as in loam-pox)

The cards you mentioned are actually pretty affordable online. Tabernacle is like 15 tix and the others are around 5 tix and tix are worth $1 so if you are playing online they are very reasonable. But as the other person mentioned they are just not as good as they could be. Particularly without any sort of cantrip ability 1 of's lose a lot of utility and with cards that cost BB and even BBB tabernacle is more of a liability. and they don't improve your bad matchups like lands or even fast storm kills.

ok, yep i play paper, there they are very pricy ;) would be "maze of ith" a option against lands? (dark depths combo), hmm but a 1-of would also be not enough against lands i think... (like you said... senseis top is also gone for cantrips)

The issue with any land against lands is that they run 4 wastelands and have Loam to get them all back.

If you're gonna board in the dark confidents you should probably board out the Nether Spirits I reckon. Also, why have 2 nether spirits instead of one? With Liliana and Factory, you seem to have plenty of finishers.

Because of the BB and BBB in costs, you don't want Mishra's Factory and Wasteland to prevent you from casting your spells and you're most likely not going to have a lot of lands anyway so being legendary might no be a problem

Different art on Hymns, Sinkholes, and Cursed Scroll is making me cringe. Rest of the video is making me happy, though.

If you're playing this deck, having different art on all your cards is definitely the way to go. You should alter the snow-covered swamps to have them be white-bordered too. And remember to play your lands in front of everything else.
