The husband of a Bradford woman who was allegedly murdered in Pakistan has told Channel 4 News he wants justice to be done - after police sources say her former husband apparently confessed to killing her.
28-year-old Saima Shahid was a beautician from Bradford, and died last month on a visit to relatives in northern Punjab. Choudhry Shakeel was arrested at the weekend - and is now reported to have admitted strangling her with her own headscarf.

Our culture in Pakistan is totally screwed up. Even in the Quran we are given the permission to choose our own partner. But it hardly ever happens.

I literally sit through these adult conversations when my grandparents have people over. They act like their children aren't entitled to their choice in life and that they own their children. I get that we need our elders for guidance but their input in some situations is so unnecessary. We've come so far but they seem to think the future is going downhill from here onwards..

Killed for falling in love when will parents get their arses out of village mentality and let their kids be happy. She had the world of happiness ahead of her and her dads family took that away from her by letting that freak kill her shame on them all will have to answer to Allah swt if not in this world definitely in the next world you all will ! Islam says person can marry of their choice and. If you followed the Quran and haadith properly you would have known . Forcing is haram and not allowed in Islam !

I went through the same situation like Samia . Everyday I thank God I'm still alive . And luckily enough my family doesn't live in UK and I have no guts to visit them as I know what will happen to me 💔💔💔

BS right there. This has nothing to do with Muslims or Islam in general it has to do with Pakistani and pre arabic traditions, traditions which have even existed before Islam's existence. It is even mentioned in Islam that it's the woman's own choice to accept or to deny a marriage and to chose the one on her own to marry. Unfortunately, the media has since 9/11 done whatever it takes to relate such issues particularily with Islam but seldomly do people they ever mention about forced cousin marriages between baptists in the southern states of the US. Honor killing has to do with traditions based on geographical and historical factors in some regions. Unfortunately individuals who do support such acts cause controversy by falsely involving religious views as defensive arguments for honor, this is why people always think that Islam is bad when some people are totally misinterpreting the religion itself.

@@rest_in_prince_I_h_trainsshit customs tend to find extra footing and become exacerbated with religion. Its just as much "BS" to say this has nothing to do with Islam as it is to say its only because of Islam. As far as African Muslims, I guess you'd say female genital mutilation there has "absolutely nothing to do with islam!" Because you're shrill and your worldview is a fairytale 😂

Life is the most sacred gift which can ever be on your person through your becoming a being or gifted as a child out of trust. What we tend forget is we don't make choices as to the characteristics of the outcomes of the nine months. We received a baby whom we try and decipher the physical and emotional characteristics for the rest of our lives hoping for the continuity of our bloodline and characterisation beyond ourselves. Only faith gives us that hope, but by twist of the same faith we believe that we are doing God's will by terminating gift. Signaled to us by God through the anger and vitriol within us. What a divinely way of a fulfillment.
