As a fan of Lewis, I think Max is 1) A fantastic driver and 2) Down to earth now he has matured. When I first saw him race, I knew he would be a WDC. As a Lewis fan, I was obviously not happy with what happened in AD, but that wasn't Max's fault (and Lewis knew that, which is why he congratulated him) He is doing what Sebastian and Lewis did when they had the fastest cars and good luck to him - he's driving well, and fairly, as both Lewis and Fernando acknowledged at the last race.

@@robthornton6288 What Lewis did in his carreer was also insane. For a lot of races he was driving like a robot. Insanely fast, consistent and really good with his tyres. To do this for such a long time you have to be something special. Coming from a Dutch Max fan. The 2021 season was the best season ever. They were pushing each other so far ahead of the rest of the field. Unbelievable.

But he did grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Son to a former F1 driver. Growing up in the paddock with Schumacher. He's good a guy but lucky to have an upbringing that 99% wouldn't have.

His father was an F1 driver but not at the top at that time, only the top F1 earned millions and definitely not what they earn today, not comparable at all. They weren't 'poor' but his father had to take out loans for Max to be able to get on with karting. He worked himself on his karts not with hired engineers and other hired staff like a lot of them had. They drove in a Van every weekend to karting tracks in Italy and back home right after, not in a private plane like others. They worked very hard for all of it so they and especially Max deserves everything he has now.

@@hgz6577 Come on now. Schumacher was a family friend to the Verstappen's and they used holiday together. Imagine seeing one of the greatest of all time as a type of family friend figure. He also had unprecedented access to paddock that most F1 drivers coming up didn't have. Max deserves everything he has now. But it is not an underdog story. I don't why people want make it out to be. Born on third base but definitely hitting home runs.

Max has a team behind him of mainly British people. Max his talent coupled at that of Christian Horner, and Adrian Martin Newey, they are British. The whole crew in the pit box is British, the workers at the RB factory in Silverstone are British. The Netherlands is a British colony across the channel. No wonder so many British F1 fans love Max.

I am Dutch and a massive Max fan, but I also like other drivers. Lando is the real deal. Alo is on of the great, hulk is fast, Lec is very good, especially qualy is top notch, some good talent coming up too, F2 is full of them now.

I’ve worked with NATO as an officer with the US Army so I had many opportunities to interact with people on that side of the pond and I am convinced that Max is the most Dutch dude I have ever seen in my entire life. If you rolled every Dutchie into one guy, he would come out looking and acting like a twin of Max Verstappen.

yes and also humble, when you say that at forum's everyone is laughing, but he is actually! not bragging or whatsoever. When he won his first worldchampionschip in the interview with David Coulthard, when he asked Max, who are you? Max responded, I am Max verstappen and like to drive in cirkels, while David Coulthard wanted him to say I am Max Verstappen and I am a World Champion! So humble he couldn't almost say it! Couldn't believe it himself!

Nah that wasn’t rude, just a bit of friendly banter and Max reacted very well, smiles all around. Obviously these guys know each other and get along pretty well.

I don’t like their pretentiousness or their behavior as sports fans. But I do like the Brits as a whole.

Agree with everything except the last part. They are an Austrian racing team although I do understand why you said it. But just being based at Silverstone doesn’t make them a British team. It was Austrian investment and Austrian people that created the team and they were sent to Britain to be based out of to give them the best chance at success.
