True, what is worse is older people say younger people "don't wanna work." Yet the average new grad has to drop hundreds of applications to even get an interview.

Except in the US. There is a labor shortage. This is mainly due to demographic change. In the US, COVID caused baby boomers, the largest population segment, to retire early, leaving a large number of vacant jobs that later smaller generations can't fill.

It's essential for the Government to monitor local Chinese companies like BD, TT, Tencent, and others, as well as foreign companies, to prevent them from exploiting loopholes to bring in additional [talent] workers under false pretenses.

"while waiting they may accept a job for which they are overqualified potential trapping them in a cycle that involves low pay and doing informal work". This is very evident in singapore if you go to job portals you will be able to see a vast difference in salary offers. An "analyst" role can go as low as 2k while another true analyst role is easily 4k onwards. A bad start for young graduates will be quite hurtful to their corporate climb unless he/she pulls themselves out of this trap.

4:09 You literally said the issue out loud yourself. She did go as far as to do a Master's degree thus she probably expects an adequate salary since she's also graduated from a prestigious university. The issue is that out of all subjects, she chose English literature? Who will employ thousands of English literature graduates every year? In South Korea? If she at least did an English teacher programme... I'm sorry but subjects like literature and art are regarded as hobbies these days since there's so many uni graduates that you need to choose sth more challenging and relevant to stand out. I also wanted to study art or history but went with physics, business and information science to have better job opportunities. And guess what? I indeed have plenty of job opportunities. Unis should severely limit the number of students for such "humanities-based" subjects, otherwise it's dooming those students by default.

Take a moment to think. Record low total unemployment is a great indicator of the economy, and that's it! So, if youth unemployment is very high while the overall unemployment rate is low, that is NOT a bad indicator of the economy. It is just that our youth are victims of the "pursue your passion" Western ideology crap or are simply lazy and picky. The fact that they can afford to be in the job market and not seriously consider any opportunities, or even lie flat, means their families have enough wealth to put food on the table. Looking at the past, there have been moments when everyone was poor and there was not enough food. Many families had to stop education and have their children work to earn money. That time, no one choose they just take whatever available like it or not. Seriously, we need to stop following western crap, there were moments in the past, when the youth studied for a field that was needed, being aware of the supply and demand! not just because what they felt like it! And The Government needs to stop raising minimum wages to lower barrier to entry for companies to pay inexperienced worker with certificate in their hand.

As the PRC continues to lead the world in transitioning through the fourth industrial revolution, as the PRC continues to provide almost as many lighthouse factories as the entire world combined, these issues are the primitive issues of the past. Indeed, these problems are nowhere near as exaggerated as those problems that had existed in Europe and the UK once upon a time in the 19th century, where, during a certain period, it was even estimated that approximately 25% of Germany's population were homeless, beggars, or prostitutes - however, the Industrial Revolution had rescued the European counterparts and provided them tremendous growths in their means of production. Whether in areas of renewables, rare earths, artificial intelligence as in areas of computer vision, the PRC is increasingly dominant, and so those issues are issues of the past. Elsewhere in East-Asia, the lower cognitive tail-ends will suffer unfortunately, but in the PRC, they will be looked after by the communists.
