How can you respect an "old foolish blatant liar"? How could you have regard for an entity that could not take in truth or positive criticism without "it"/ofo-obasanjo resulting to violence? There was certainly the truth in "it" being called an "economic illiterate". Perhaps this stemmed from the truth that "it" shelved a mini-constitution written by Segun Osoba and a late northerner, that would have witnessed the development growth that would have rivalled the likes of brazil, singapore, malaysia, qatar, etc, and not only this, this growth would have created the avenue to meet the costs of welfare for the citizens but this "worthless" and "visionless" ofo-obasanjo shelved this very vital important document to gather dust. This was when "it" was the military head of state. "It" had the opportunity to right "its" wrong during the second opportunity "it" had as civilian president but "it" failed woefully. Instead under "its" watch, 12 northern states were granted the practice of sharia and with their extremism this led to boko-harm and other bloodletting atrocities from the north down to the south. So, there was something there when "it" was called "an economic illiterate". And for "it" to have responded the way "it" did clearly showed that there was an element of truth in the "paint-brushing" personality of this ofo-segun ofo-obasanjo - "a great mourner indeed".

In his attempt to discredit Obasanjo, Soyinka committed the blunder of exposing the baselessness of his contempt for him. One cannot dismiss the entire character of an individual who has contributed significantly to his country as both a soldier and a leader, regardless of any flaws he may possess, especially when acknowledging one's own imperfections. This serves to highlight that Obasanjo is the bigger man between the two. Obasanjo's contributions to our beloved country's economic development dwarf Soyinka's contributions to our political development. So, who's the illiterate then?

I love Prof Wole Soyinka so much for his energy and status globally, the same 3rd term agenda he said OBJ lied about, is now being planned by Buhari, of whose govt Soyinka, somehow supports. So, the question now is "what is Soyinka going to say about this agenda? In the world we live in, everything is circumstantial, to the point that human beings should, sometimes think of the future before making pronouncements!

Wole soyinka is a cousin to popular Nigerian musician and human rights Activist Fela Kuti who stands against obasanjo's regime and exposes some of the bad things he did while he was ruling. And it is widely believed that Fela was assassinated by obasanjo but the media claimed Fela died of HIV of which there was no proof of. So in my own view of the beef between soyinka and Obasanjo I would say the death of Fela and the death of Fela's mother might be the reason why they're both having issues.
@motolola5 жыл бұрын
Fela might be killed by the Military in 1997 under suspicious circumstances, but it is definitely not Obasanjo ... who was likly exiled or in prison in 1997 or more accurately, had no power.
@shedrackudjor68425 жыл бұрын
Fela wasn't killed by the military, he died of illness which they claim was HIV/AIDS, but there was no proof that he was HIV positive before and after his death.

Even before amalgamation, tribes have always fought within and against one another. Also, "breaking up" will not prevent internal conflict within same tribes. Additionally, every tribes have sub groups or sects, and every sects or subgroups will always have people with different opinions/agendas.

Comments made today Saturday 28 August 2021 when I first watched this video. I need to ask you (osi-segun ofo-obasanjo) how are you sure that you will make it to heaven? You should read MATTHEW25v14-46, REVELATION21v8, DEUTERONOMY28v23-28,59, MATTHEW12v32 and LUKE12v10 and then conclude yourself whether you will make it to heaven or not.

@oladman90584 жыл бұрын
I think you lack understanding of the yoruba culture. They encourage open disagreements. We don't pat the wrongdoer on the back. We rather expose them regardless of age, class or status. I can't see any arrogance in the stance of either men. All I see is a demonstration of maturity in discourse. Or would you rather have both men to conceal their misgivings and not air it to the public?
@emmanueloluga97703 жыл бұрын
@@oladman9058 Thank you for this very astute commentary. This is also why our spirituality has flourished in the south Americas and islands. The open discussion has always been OUR strength and weakness. This is because open discussion allows us to grow and harbor as little resentment as possible, while on the flip side its made us slow to action way too many times.

"Arrogance"? The usual label by bigots and tribalists. Yet Igbos were protected by Yorubas before and furing the civil wars! Flocked our cities and towns, flourish and even run for various offices in Yoruba lands! You thrive at Yorubas expense, dont think youll ever find that elsewhere,,so kindly shove that tribalism where it fits. Till this day.
