monsters arent everything, i am always keeping max 3 monsters in 1 army

Single strong units get swarmed eazily and then add some ranged weapons in and they die quite fast... At least in games I played haha, have yet to buy this game, but all total war games have similar principle, you have like 1-4 big units in the army, a lot of range and then some tanky swarm like units, in all rome series that's how I countered elephants and from what I've seen from my friends playing and here, simmilar strategy works here too

That is what anti-large units are for, also ranged units stack damage pretty fast, and because they are large, direct fire can always target them without being blocked by friendlies.

It definitely got worse for them when they closed the distance.

I've recreated a smiliar battle with the run golem mod enabled... ngl the chorfs had no chance but it was beautiful

if they could re-create the runes that enabled the golems,as some of those were lost over the centuries.

there were never a chaos elves faction, although some of the druchii have slaneeshi cults

there are no chaos elves technically. only dark elves who sort of corrupted by slaanish but still totally in denial of their affiliation with chaos. 🤣

That would completely negate it being a cinematic battle. The tactics don't really matter, the visceral carnage and drama is what this is for.
