"It was rather cold on that day, I tell ya. There were at least four times more of them since Grimhold was never that big anyway... We knew they were coming, Our Squadron got ordered to keep the Gyrobombers in perfect condition. It was obvious to all three of us that Belegor didn't want to lose any of his prized war machines. Almost fourty-ish explosive shells in each one, that would give a hundred-something in total since there were three of us. Total preparation took two days, morale was dropping slowly and slowly. Dwarven fighting spirit doesn't carry us for a long time, I guess. Legions of Ironbrakers, Cannons, even Boar Cavalary to boot off the element of surprise. But everything had to work like clockwork in order for that to work - One mistake and they could trample us with sheer numbers. Civilians have been well hidden away for the battle, though if we lose, they wouldn't have any escape route. None of us were told the exact location either. Our Squadron's job was to move to designated points we were supposed to know by heart (and they made DAMN sure we did) and load off a shell onto an enemy line to break it and allow our troops a window of time to strike. If we play our part without fail, we may contribute to our ultimate victory. but that's a huge IF. We didn't hear from the front lines for a while, we were stationed deep in the fortress awaiting an order to move out. After seeing a flare, I pushed on the wistle to mark that I'm ready and when boys on my left and right wistled back we moved out in unison. Since it was mostly Chaos, I don't remember much of it, mostly flying by the route we were training for and deploying explosives into large groups. For one thing I remember we were in the yard, overrun by our troops trying to hold of the Greenskin Menace, We all remember seeing a giant stone beast, twenty marks tall, maybe more. This thing could swipe us out of the air like flies, the moment I saw it, I couldn't think straight, I was in shock and terror. I truly hope I never see such a thing again, It had to be seen to be believed. We were all scared the same, honestly. We still all remember that thing. Just quickly dropped the load onto some group to break their central mass and flew away as fast as we could."

This seige actually looks enjoyable to play because it is not just a bunch of narrow hallways. It's a large gated settlement that funnels the enenamy into a kill zone. This is how all seiges should work

Dear book of grudges, today we succeded in battle - but at what costs. Grudge 1: Die dwarven commander made a lot of mistakes. No Beer for him for one week. Grudge 2: That ever respawning big spider ass will be on my list. Grudge 3: Rebuilding that wall sucks.

I like to play battles in warhammer 2, just for this. You can play 2 different armies at the same time, have others in reinforcements and 2 more controlled by AI on the field. Very few times has it been laggy but it's always beautiful to watch, siege or not. It gives the impression the defender is screwed no matter what he tries, when he doesn't have that many armies on his side and he still tries to put up resistance. I've had this kind of battle against chaos invasions too but they had many armies ready too. Gave some epic fights, especially with the dwarves and their complex army compositions (and the mods, ofc)
