On February 17, 2024, an Eau Claire County Sheriff's deputy was monitoring traffic at a known drug hotspot motel in Eau Claire, WI, and observed a vehicle leaving the lot. It was discovered the female driver's license was suspended and she was flagged with a "Be On the Lookout" alert. Upon learning she was going to jail, she slipped out of her handcuffs in the squad car and wreaked havoc.

What the kids “made up”? I checked it out. It’s that over a period of nine years, she prostituted two of her children out in return for meth. The case went to trial but was ultimately dropped because it was too difficult for the victim to continue-not because anyone involved didn’t think it happened. @@sue8344 I was attending a military class in Wisconsin in February and there were several guys from Puerto Rico who flew in to attend as well. They were wearing short sleeve shirts and no coats. I had to load them up in my van and take them to buy proper winter clothes or they would have frozen.

If anyone who's never been arrested before is wondering, it's not hard to slip your cuffs the first time they cuff you, which I'm assuming is why I constantly see people doing it on these body cam videos. When I was young and stupid, I slipped mine off on the way to jail, but after I did I instantly realized that it was not going to go well for me so I slipped them right back on lol. I've been clean for 11 years and have an amazing 6 year old girl.

Would it be better for society to pay for her to sit in jail for longer? It sounds like she was making efforts to hold down a job and make changes. I think it's better for society to have her do 80 hours of community service cleaning roads or whatever and maybe keep a job, as opposed to paying her room and board in county lockup for a month before releasing a person that has no job and few resources to get one.

I saw her pull her arms from the officer after exiting the car, but she never attempted to hit an officer. If she had but been unsuccessful, then you would see the blow blocked somehow, but all she did was forcefully pull her arm across her chest. Also "make me" isn't threatening an officer, it implies they will have to use physical force against her as she will resist. Police use force all the time without being assaulted, mostly to get a suspect to put their hands behind their back, sometimes the officer will even throw blows, but that still isn't assaulting an officer.

Here’s the thing I have a bunch of sympathy for someone just out of prison trying to get their life together… it sucks I’ve seen people go through it first hand, there are legitimate road blocks that are very hard to manage for people genuinely trying to get back on their feet and stay on the straight and narrow… But you lost me when you visited a motel known for selling drugs… that you know you’ve already been trespassed from.🙄

It is really hard. Finding a job or an apartment with a record is near impossible. Getting to a job without a license or insurance is near impossible. Paying for those things without a job is impossible. People make bad choices, then keep making them. Nonetheless, I found this very sad. The police, however, did the very best job they could, treating her with more respect than she deserved.

Did she actually stop, or drive through. What I noticed was a LEO who wouldn't even tell her parole officer that she has a job, and was supposed to work in the morning. That was after they didn't find any drugs in her car, after she cooperated! To me, it looked like the officer was trying to crush her, not give her any chance to improve her life and keep a job, so she could pay her child support and get her license back! I can see why her frustration got the best of her, after all of that!

I’m saying that given her circumstances today, I can understand her feelings of frustration and hopelessness. When you have a steady income, it’s like a foundation to build upon. You can eat regularly and think more clearly (absent mental illness) and function. You have a community of other employees and a goal and sense of accomplishment for each day. Without those things, your mental and physical health collapses and you are isolated. Paying $20 for weed doesn’t matter because it’s a drop in the bucket of the thousands you need to rent a place. It must seem insurmountable. That’s all. Not defending her actions but empathizing with her situation now.

Love the heart of the officer. The car doesn’t have insurance, has weed in the car, and was being driven by the lady without a license. She just went berserk and took a swing at him. He has every right and reason to tow the car but still gives the keys to her friend and says, “we’re not gonna look.” He still had sympathy for her overall situation, despite the fact she continues to dig herself a deeper hole. He doesn’t add to it out of spite or malice. What a great example of maintaining composure, de-escalation, and compassion in policing! ❤❤

Unfortunately, what this woman needs more than just sympathy is tough love and to be held accountable for all the things she is not doing in her life. People have been allowing her to continue "to dig herself a deeper hole" and calling it sympathy. That's not sympathy though, its apathy. Wisconsin is a dumpster fire because lawbreakers are no longer treated the way they should be, most notably by the courts. That's a probation violation, hitting an officer, driving suspended license, no insurance, etc but the DA won't revoke and put her in jail on the original charges she was given probation for AND the DA will drop half these new charges and recommend probation even though she's proved she's not a good candidate for probation.

It is counter-intuitive but several states do it. However, many states will give an exemption for driving for work if you go to court and request it.

The only real problem was very poorly ATTEMPTING to assault anyone. Which yeah, id agree that's the part that actually needs punished. Holy shit, a women actually getting arrested for not paying child support. My mom still owes my dads 63,680$. She hasn't had anything happen to her. I know she has no valuable assets, so he will probably never see that money in his life time. Maybe when she ODs from her drug habit, we can claim any assets she may have.

Well, she's getting arrested for violating her parole (visiting the drug den hotel) and driving without a license (suspended for child support payments missing). Still good to see some measure of consequences for it, however knock on it may be in this case. Hopefully she'll learn a lesson and pay on time, but I'm doubtful.

But my point is that when you’re already in a financial hole it’s hard to dig out, especially with so much policy working against the poor. I went from employed to almost homeless in a year because I got sick. There are many reasons people become homeless and their life spirals out of control. Empathy is better than judgement.

They stated in the video that her kids were taken away from her and “lied about what she did” in her own words. She’s on parole and massively in debt, so why is she smoking and vaping? She’s easily spending 300 a month if not more on those products, she has the money to pay child support and be a decent mother for once, but she still can’t figure that out. Empathy is long out the window for these people. It’s been over 2 years and she STILL smokes weed and vapes.

A driver's license isn’t immediately suspended the day after a child support payment is missed. She's been in arrears for months and has received numerous written warnings outlining exactly what will happen (license suspension etc.)

I love how they always act surprised when told they have a suspended license and then freak out when they’re arrested for it so the police know full well they knew about it. And do they actually think screaming I can’t breath is going to get them somewhere? 🤦♀️

I don’t think people realize how long you have to go to not pay child support for them to suspend your license.
