This Catholic News Service documentary takes a look at the Catholic military chaplaincy, which has had a presence in the U.S. armed since the American Revolution. At least two may one day become saints: Frs. Emil Kapaun and Vincent Capodanno.

I wonder why there aren’t more being ordained. I am an ordained Protestant minister, but I hope Fr. Willenberg inspires other young Catholic men to pursue ordination.

I'm so grateful that you mentioned something about the Military ❤️ 🙏 men who are being considered for sainthood right now. Any man or woman who is considering service to the military as a chaplain or helpers to the chaplain (nuns or mission work) is important. God's 💗 blessings...

So as a 56M do you have to actually participate in worshiping a god who you don't believe in? in services such as there religious practices like; praying, singing, dance, praise or any form of worship like bowing...or even having to give a sermon concerning a god you do not believe in? I understand assisting the Chaplin by setting up a service for people of another religion from my own but my concern is having to actually participate in any form of worshiping there god.

I'm a Religious Programs Specialist, the Navy equivalent of the 56M, and I do the same work they do. Just as the Chaplain is not expected to compromise his/her faith tradition the 56M should not be expected to compromise their religious convictions. You simply must be able to facilitate for others. I hope this helps.

You need inducements from your house of worship, it's a process and have to be selected. It's a process. You need your credentials and at least 2 years of experience serving in your denomination. 52xr USAF.

What does the Lord Christ declare? "Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword". Matt 26:52 (ESV) Were not Christ's words so well-proven in the last two World Wars when 'Christians' took up the sword and in God's name slaughtered each other and then gave God the thanks for their murderous victories? Did not many millions pay the penalty for their disobedience to their supposed Lord and Master? For Christ's true followers are OBLIGATED to love one another, not fight in man's wars and kill other humans. "For I say LOVE your enemies, do GOOD to those who HATE YOU" Yet brother fought against brother and bought great shame on the name of Christ who COMMANDED them to "Love thine enemies" not harm and set out to destroy them. This is one of the "Hard sayings" of Christ, which few indeed can truly believe and accept and so put into practice once their country goes to war with another. This is why Christ insist on the following** 25 A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, 26 “If you want to be my disciple, you must **hate everyone else by comparison -your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:25-27 (NLT)

What about all the biblical wars. 2 Kings 19:35 kjv comes to mind. Are defensive wars justifiable.

@@tabletactics4578 They were done in a different dispensation. Christians are under the commands and rules of the Lord Christ and his Apostles now. No wars are 'justifiable' for Christ's servants to fight and kill their enemies. They remain 'conscientious objectors to the death.

@@servantofthelord.7963 That seems to be a contradiction in Christ . How can the Jesus lead the heavenly host on judgement day if he, being the High Priest of Christians? Be present to that battle.

@@tabletactics4578 When the Lord Jesus Christ Returns, the period of Grace for men to turn to God and repent will be over and then terrible carnage will envelop the earth. Then Christ will come to punish all the evil people on the earth and destroy two thirds of the earth's population. "31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD. 32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground".
