So coming back to this, I think I’ve realized something, all the villagers that surrounded Faputa, that offered themselves to her, I think most if not all of them were part of the original exploration team, mainly because of how they view consuming and sacrifice it seems. The team fed off of Irumyuui’s children, survived off them and offered prayers to her as thanks, they were all aware that what they were doing was not a voluntary action on Irumyuui’s part, and when Irumyuui became the village, the group in a sense, gave Irumyuui back her children by offering themselves to her, taking the forms of the weird little things that I could see as resembling the beings Irumyuui birthed. When Faputa was born, it was obviously pretty early into the village’s history, so it’s hard to tell if the way they looked at Faputa was with a feeling of hunger or worship or maybe a mix of both. The village, especially its original inhabitants exist in a cycle of give and take, the mock water gave them hydration but took their bodies, Irumyuui ‘gave’ them food, and they took her children. When Faputa entered the village a few chapters ago, she gave nothing, only threats and destruction. So the villagers fought against her, it was only when Faputa showed them that she too, existed in a cycle of give and take, and gave up enough of herself to put her out of commission, did they willingly offer themselves up. The rules the villagers live by is equal exchange, and with Faputa being a seemingly immortal being capable of easily regeneration, one of their lives could never amount to Faputa or her wants. So it’s only when Faputa is brought down, damaged beyond movement, now at level with the villagers, do they give themselves up, because now it’s equal. Faputa’s body is equal to theirs, and her protection of them aids in that. I could be wrong tho, I’m just rambling is all.

Oh god, the absolute destruction Faputa was put through was horrifying, poor girl. But, congratulations youngest child of the abandoned Irumyuui who became the protector of so many lost souls, finally you have understood what your true purpose was. To simply live and do what you wish, as any parent would want of their child this is what your mother wanted for you, though her mind was overwhelmed with anger and so you were blinded by it. With your new form, proof of your growth and realization, you shall chose your purpose in life. And if it is, right now in this very moment, to defend those you once wished to kill, so be it. Ignite, Faputa, not like a dying sun or as a forest fire, but as the light in one’s heart or soul when fierceness and energy burn within them. You were born of wishes, born of the Abyss, but you need not follow its rules, Faputa, freely make your own. And know that you are never alone, even if all those around you fall, their spirits live on within you, within your memory, and you have seen how powerful a thing memory is.

Damn this chapter got me in the feels. I'm so hyped for the next one. Stellar work ma dude as usual ;)

Holy shit. Can't believe in a few chapters Akihito Made the "villain" of this arc to become the heroine while unifying it with the redemption of another character, while delivering a chaotic tale of conflict.

Ending was a little stereotypical but the "What's the point of immortally" stuff was amazing. If she wasn't saved she would probably just have been carried away eaten forever by beasts. Suffering over and over, or if she can regenerate she still would have failed and have been left with nothing. Her mother would cursed her by accident.

Akihito will never stop surprising me on his ways to explore certain themes, specially in this occasion with two ones that has been build over time. In the first hand immortality as we see the true dangers of the Abyss, the layer with no totems, no protectors, nothing to hold the beasts of the Abyss that were presented with an "all you can eat" once the Village barrier has been broken, and so showing as it builds up with more and more damage to the princess that scenario Nanachi was so scared about, an Abyss with creatures with no limits to their hunger and debauchery ripping apart an almost immortal being, but this time frightening to the core as it wasn't Mitty, it was Faputa, the one that was killing villagers like bugs moments before and the one that Reg, an aubade, couldn't contain. And so mixing in that deep and inescapable sense of impotence against the Abyss, as with certain numbers and danger everyone can become a prey. On the other hand, Food, I am impressed how an element that before MiA I didn't even consider that much in stories has become one of my favorite things in the story, from Riko's Bombs, to the significance of monster meat in the Abyss, followed to the importance in Nanachi's life and the ones that haven't eat anything better, next the bizarre dishes in the city, eventually the Ganja corps and how it become a curse and reminder on the reality they were living in to now, where value must be preserved one way or another and so even if it just a tiny part the ones that so craved to consume the Princess were now the ones sacrificing for her, even if death was a reality knocking the door in the form of another creature's meal. I really loved to see back the fauna of the Abyss, specially one so active, RoboDad....Ahhh it hurts so much, pain. I don't know who was the cursed one to remind Akihito this was a seinen haha, he really didn't take any brakes on the..."intense" department, it really took me by surprise to see the level of the injuries. I can't wait to see what is Faputa new power, specially considering it could come from the three craddles and that it seems to be of limited uses by the symbols that remind of the incinerator charges. Once again you work is so subarashii, the paneling was on point and the music was so good, the sound effects were also so hauningly good, those crunches. It is always a joy to see your work. Sorry this time I was so late, KZfaq really decided to don't show me one of the few things I was looking forward on the platform and only now I found it.

Well I was preparing for this, and I think that the time to took this to came out, menas that it wasnt easy for you. It was simply horrible to see Faputa bring destroyed, and... the Robobot, it forever be one of my favorites characthers for what he did. His sacrifice rescue her princess, not for the monsters, but for her own corruption. And it was so beautiful see her pulling out all that meaningless pain to find her own value. I can say is one of the most beautiful moments this manga had, even with the hell it was the beggining. And thats what Made in Abyss means for me: pain and darkness... but everything resultsin one thing: HOPE. Curses and blesses. And you, man,... damn, your are the absolutely goated, the passion you left to this video its incredible. I hope we can keep going down in this adventure call Made in Abyss until the very end ;)

Am I the only one who's really getting tired of how long we've been in this arc? Granted that's probably mostly because of the long hiatuses between chapters, but we've been at the doorstep of the endgame for so long that I just want this arc to end already. Like, this is like the third update in a row where I thought that this would be the final chapter of the arc. And on top of that, Riko has been brushed aside to a background character again. But anyway, yay! Faputa's redemption is here! *cries because I have to wait another 4-6 months for the next cliffhanger*

Been loosely following the manga for some time but oh gosh...this video takes me back to when I watched the anime and the part with Riko's arm. Never before or since had I'd been so traumatized over an animated show in my life. I remember crying a good three hours after that episode. This is bringing some of that back

Made in abyss is easily the best manga I ever read, it gives you an anxiety to read to the end and understand the entire story, I did not understand much the story but I once can say the one girl wearing straps around her neck in the cave has a amazing story it is basically little nightmares but instead they are not being forced to go to deep of abyss but all the children get the same fate of becoming another being and locked away inside a hole in the deep of abyss where they cannot come out, the most surprisingly some places in made of abyss gave me random flashbacks that I already have been there before or I had a dream about these places before I first heard of it, mangas are better this way, with little people as main characters, they have a more interesting adventure than others which character is an adult who gains overpowered powers, that makes no sense at all
