Great video as usual. One small correction, if I may. The star Sirius isn't in Orion but rather Canis Major. Simple mistake as the two constellations are very close to each other, and often Orion's Belt is used as an indicator as to where Sirius is in the sky.

Truly the best and most comprehensive summary of the silmarillion. Many new things that I pick up in every video that i have missed or not previously understood.

Ah Feanor, whose colossal ego and assholery is the force behind more suffering, pain, and destruction then any being on Middle Earth save Morgoth himself.While still being a complete and utter badass. And also kind of a paranoid nutcase. Heard there is one story out there in some of Tolkien's notes that Feanor took a bit of natural language drift over the centuries that caused a slight alteration in how the 'th' phenom was pronounced, making it closer to 's' then 'th', as part of a grand plot by the Valar to erase him and his mother from history.

Rather than a less interesting story I feel that if Finwë hadn't remarried we wouldn't have Elrond, Galadriel, Arwen or Aargorn. Where would middle earth have ended up with these vital descendants of Indis/Finwë not existing. Very dire indeed.. To those confused Fëanor's half brothers are Fingolfin who is Ancestor of Gil-galad, Elrond & Aragorn and Finarfin who is Galadriel's grandfather (Fëanor's half bother and Fingolfin's full brother).

This begins one segment of something that still puzzles me. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of Míriel's 'passing' was. Surely he could have shown the fallibility of even elves through another figure. In most narratives it would be the catalyst for Fëanor's later aggression. He certainly didn't get on with his half siblings, but his memory would have his mother's devotion and it's later proven that Finwë cherished him above others. Unless it is to be that Finwë's preference of one child over others was due to Fëanor's singularity. I also confess that I have a soft spot for Nerdanel and Mahtan. It's characters like these that make the myth-format of the Silmarillion frustrating for me as I would have loved to hear about them in a more narrative form. I can't help but feel like Melkor's pardon is another "and then we wouldn't have much of a story" slide.

the rest of the story wouldn't have happened if Melkor wasn't let go. Setting him free set off the the chain of events that would cause endless tragedy to the world. On a more humorous note, I imagine Melkor passing Tulkas in in the street and him clenching his fist wanting to deck Melkor in the face, but Ness stays his hand and is like 'Leave it dear, he's not worth it."

These are amazing videos! I have listened to the Silmarillion on audiobook and read along in the book simultaneously, but I have a difficult time remembering everyone besides the obvious (Eru, Melkor and so on). These videos help alot!! Massive kudos and looking forward to more of them 😎👍🏻

Small correction man, Sirius is a star in the constellation Canis Major; the giant blue star in the Orion constellation is Rigel. Otherwise great video!

Sirius is not part of Orion, but rather Canis Major and is known as the "Dog Star". Canis Major follows Orion as his hunting companion and is placed to the left of Oropn. Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky
