Humble artists who aren't afraid to give up the keys to advancing in skill are the best teachers and the most inspiring. No need to state it other than in a precise yet pure and with the minimal necessity of capturing the specific essence of the technique/approach. Thanks very much.

Thanks! I didn't knew it was called charging, always thought of it as "wet on wet". My teacher told me the first class "Watercolour is so easy because you let the water work for you" and this proves her point. :) -A

Oooooooh, I think I've been pushing color around too much when charging a wash. I will have to be mindful about how much pressure and remember not to push it around.

In My Humble Opinion, I feel charging is much more fun! The results are almost always pleasantly surprising. I usually end up with patterns of colors that I never could have come up with on my own.

I couldn’t hear what color brown you used,. Could you reply and let me know? This was a great demo with good info and I’m a beginning watercolor painter, and am currently working on a composition that has, indeed, some trees.

I hesitate to make this statement, because I admire your paintings so much. As I enter my 90th year on this earth, I saw my first brown tree. All the others are various shades of green/grey. I think as children, we develop a code for trees-a green balloon on a brown trunk,c or perhaps at a given moment, local color makes us see brown. Opinion?

hello. I've tried glazing. sometimes it works , sometimes it doesn't. Can glazing be done with the same color? i've tried with lighter and darker colors but with the same color it doesn't look good. But i've seen paintings with same color. specially on florals.. roses etc. pls help

I wonder if you could just "drop in the color" when you use watered down acrylic paint. I wonder if it still works. If anyone with experience could answer that for me :)

Glazing is better for oil ....the masters used up to 60 layers making very deep colors that glowed. You have to do fat over lean to avoid cracking in oil
