Back in the day, I had a friend who was from St. Lucia and we communicated perfectly. He spoke St. Lucian Creole and I spoke Haitian Creole. At the end of the day, we are African descendents who speak/understand the language our ancestors had to create because our colonizers would not allow us to learn to read/write. What a group of resilient people we are!!!! Let's EDUCATE, UNITE & ORGANIZE!

I once lived with someone from St. Lucia. Someone came knocking on our door and she said "Ki yes kap konyen pot la?" Some Haitians were shocked that she used that word. Haitians say "frape." The words mean the same thing in French, except that the Haitians give a sexual connotation to the word "konyen."

From what I hear in this video, St Lucian and Haitian Creole is 95% the same, especially when he said "an mete Bondje nan mitan lanmou nou". This is clear and precise to my ears. We say bon soir as well. "What's the price of the bananas." "Commen pou fig la". As another person commented, the pronunciation of certain words are different in different parts of St. Lucia. Another thing, the older folks spoke patois elegantly without any english words. Nowadays its adulterated, so lots of english words are added, and pronunciations change. @ 758 🇱🇨.

Le creole st Lucien,to me is more of a mixture between Haitian and Guadeloupeen creole.i speak both. I love and respect all creole or patois to me they represent strength, the strength of are ancestors. We all have different cultures but we are all brothers and sisters or at list cousins. lanmou pou tout moun et gross bisou.

It’s the same language. It’s like someone from one state talking to someone from another state. Different dialect but the route words are the same.

11:10 my guess is ladjèt mama'w. By the way I'm Trini. I never learned Kreyòl. My grandma never passed it down. I never knew it existed until I was in my 30's, when my mother told me my grandma spoke it. I wished it was passed down thou. I started to learn it off n on from 2017. That why I guessed "ladjèt mama'w". I seen a video it was debated what was the correct way to pronounce 🤣

As an haitian, I enjoy watching the Saint Lucian comedy show 'Chez Campeche' on KZfaq. I undestand about 90 to 95 percent of the creole spoken on that show.
