Update Anglo Celt local newspaper Sept 12th Edition.
The Atlas 1702 long reach digger, which was recovered from the bog in Dernagore, Derrylin over the June Bank Holiday weekend 2012, has been purchased jointly by Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz Metal Recycling The machine weighed 20 tonnes Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz paid €210 per tonne and donated €1,000 on top of this to the Charity Excavator Challenge. The machine is to go to India for metal recycling. The cheque of €5,200 now takes the total raised to €27,000. Donations of €500 each have already been given to Spina Bifida and Down's Syndrome

I know this was an older video but that was outstanding. Such great people coming together to get a job done. I could watch this all day. I can run heavy machinery but not at the skill level presented here. Wonderful. Oklahoma gives you the resect you deserve. Allen

The time laps video shows just how versatile excavators are with skilled operators. Getting it out after 20 years in the bog took a lot of team work, it's an amazing job guys!

Thanks for posting this video. Having worked with heavy equipment, I've learned how attached we can get to their equipment, and how gratifying this salvage of that large excavator was to the people involved. The music wasn't bad, either.

I think that is one of the best videos that I have watched on you tube! I liked the guy doing the signaling, his arms were a blurr at times. Great stuff !

Watching those excavator operators do their "stuff" made me wonder in amazement at their skills. I wish I was good at doing something (anything) like these guys obviously are at what they do. I liked the background music, but I think the music from something like "Swan Lake" or another classic ballet performance would have done justice to the performance I just saw. mrc109

Don't have the full details of that sound file. All I can say is its taken from the background sounds library that comes with Roxio Creator Pro 2012 and that particular file is called Proud Land - Back Home

great job. My one recovery tank VT-55 = your 15 excavators. VT55: V12 40litre diesel. Main winch max 1200kN- 120 ton with 3 pulleys,secondary winch 10kN-1 ton.Crane 2.5 Ton . Anchor blade as a prop during pulling.

Everything was perfect even the grease in a grease gun that was in the cab. They cleaned everything and started it the following day.

DrMurdoc666 Took them long enough to get it out so why not wash it and have it in the town somewhere as a monument of some sort! Im sure a 2 or 3 men with power washers would of cleaned it in a day or two.

Turns out all these years it's been cared for and operated by a 150 pound catfish who used a Coleman lantern to see in the murky depths...Every morning ol' catfish would park it back in the muddy wetlands so no1 would know the difference.

Here is no info about the driver and the event 20 years ago. How quickly did the machine sink? Could the driver run out of the cabin? Why did the excavator go to that area?

It was a charity fundraiser and it was sold as scrap metal totalling around "30K. It was also a challenge to the guys involved because 3 other attempts failed.

Vanio I'd say the truck tyres eliminate the wipe lash if a cable snapped. My guess anyway. I just updated the info and added a few links to update this story.
