In 1983 the most famous couple in the world arrived in Alice Springs, Australia for a historic royal tour. Greeted by oceans of cheering fans, packing and lining each and every street. Fans and admirers full of hope, optimism and love for the Prince and Princess.
All is not what it seems- a closer look back on this expansive royal tour reveals a much more foreboding and gruelling reality. Two years married, a 9-month old child and constant observation, no one could hide the truth forever and the cracks in the Wales’ marriage were beginning to show.
The love they shared, “whatever love is”, began to fall apart and the world was left to see a man of royalty, stoic and cold trying to understand a woman of the people, vulnerable and sweet. From Australia to New Zealand this is an incredible look at the 1983 royal tour like never before.

Winnie Wallace....I remember seeing them in these clips and thinking what a miserable git Charles looked. It must have been agony for Diana, can you imagine having to put up with his surly demeanor.She had a lot to put up with, a difficult, jealous husband and Paul Burrell, the creepy footman.

This just shows how ignorant you are. Charles is at peace at last with Camilla, where as Diana always demanded his attention day and night.There marriage was so wrong from the start she was not a suitable partner for PC they had nothing in common.

I am very sorry to say, that Diana didn't have guidance from his own family and mother. Then she married when she was still a moody teenager with a 30 years old man. Everyone shouts that Charles is the problem when actually Diana's own mother was the problem. This was an arranged marriage that didn't work. As many other people, they divorced. The only things was that Diana knew how to manipulate the press. Camilla on the other loved Charles and put up with many things, even with Charles' nasty middle aged son.

They should've never gotten married. Charles should've put his ego to one side and abdicated his place in line for the throne and married Camilla. The same as his mother's uncle did all those years ago. He's going to be remembered in history as a disgraceful king who cheated on his wife anyway

@glen7318 even if she didn't want to marry him his heart was always with Camilla. Abdication would've been taken badly, yes. But it's better than being in an unhappy marriage
