Flint and Silver were the pirate kings we needed. Charles Vane is the king we wanted.

First i hated Vane, but with every episode i mentionend that he is such a great character. WE ARE MANY, THEY ARE FEW

He was the bravest man I ever knew. Not without fear, just unwilling to let it diminish him.

The real, idealistic captain of the Pirates, of free men. The one that died for what he believed in, the one that could make a new world, a new system out of nothing. Jack wanted his name to be remembered, Flint wanted his Thomas back...but Captain Charles Vane, wanted freedom and lived his life without compromise.

Arguably the most honest pirate and character in the show. Followed his heart toward freedom. The principle and virtue of it. No compromise. Changed his allegiances yes, but for the means of pursuing that ideal. Others however lost their way and went far off their intended course. Guthrie only wanted to advance her station, Silver wanted to have or be valued, Flint fueled previously by sensible purpose ultimately flailing with rage, Blackbeard from legend to vagrant father, Hornigold from respected sailor to traitor to his fellow privateers/pirates. Rackham and Bonnie had a few mix-ups but are close to Vane in honesty. The sincere desire for freedom and defiance against subjugation and servitude of any kind. Heck with a crew like theirs it makes sense: Vane = a former slave Anne = An abused wife Rackham = a victim of unfair debts passed from generations They had the right idea for freedom. All of them. Sadly their journey led most of them down under historically speaking. Stories however are awe-inspiring. The good parts anyway.

I will never forgive netflix for not casting him as geralt of rivia.

Charles Vane had such presence on Black Sails the best character among the pirates and the only one of them that could draw me in. I was so disappointed when he was hanged. I am not keen on Flint or John Silver’s character as they lack the King factor. I also like Jack. What a great actor Zach is the best character of all the pirates. Love Black Sails

This show was interesting in the sense that it had no real prominent antagonists. You sort of rooted for everyone.

I have to say ... normally when my favorite character dies in a show ... I cry and get angry ... with Charles Vane in Black Sails ... it's just so satisfying. Charles Vane could no fit in the oncoming world. He sacrificed himself as a symbol of genuine freedom. First, you can think he is a pityless bastard, when revealing where does he came from, all things crystalized in my head. He does honor the oath. He was the true freedom soldier. There's so much EPIC lines he throws regarding this. Nassau was the last freedom bastion left in this new world. Civilization was just a masquerade to plot against civilian life and enrich the arks of power. And besides all of this, a man who believed in love and trusted his love for Eleanor. The ending dialogue in prison is heartbreking. He was for real, she was a confused, tormented, treacherous but determined bitch... He and his men hung his father because he was another shit thato offered his daughter to him.
