Looks good but I have no choice but to eat healthy, avoiding animal fats, sugar and salt. And avoiding a lot of dairy. I use milked almonds or cashews for milk and mostly cashew cheese. It's good. Amazing what you grow to really like when you eat to live. Haven't had butter in 25 years, even then only used unsalted. Hot Dogs? Ralph Nader wasn't kidding with his warning. Hot Dogs do not break down at the dump. With substitutions you could make a just as delicious and very healthy meal, starting with using olive oil instead of butter, b/l & s/l cooked chicken thighs or breasts in veggie broth just to cover with 1 level teaspoon instant tapioca to thicken, baby bellas, a pasta instead of potatoes, lots of LOW FAT cheese - like swiss, gouda, mozzarella, cottage cheese, ricotta, feta, cheddar, goat cheese and cashew cheese - mix cheese with pasta than layer tomatoes on top of pasta [del monte stewed tomatoes drained], a bit of chipotle, rosemary, fresh parsley, marjoram, a nice sprinkle of Old Bay, scallions, garlic, broccoli or peas, fire-roasted red pepper, shredded carrot, celery or fennel seed. No need to stir, just layer. Top with large toasted croutons and a single layer of sliced provolone or mozzarella. Whatever you do or add it will be good. Oven 350° 45 minutes. Set covered for 20 minutes on back of stove before serving. Can use crock pot 2-3 hours high.

Wood cutting boards harbor bacteria. I like the acrylic kind.
@samuelhowie45437 ай бұрын
Wood can be sterilized though. I saw a post about how much bacteria can form in a knife block and the recommended keeping the knives in a drawer. Made me wonder if anyone has ever checked to see how much bacteria forms in drawers.
@kinfl6 ай бұрын
@@kyliesbubbie the acrylic boards are hard on your knives... You can clean your wood boards and sterilize them.
@kinfl6 ай бұрын
@@samuelhowie4543 I read an article about that too. The problem is because people don't dry the knives very well, they put them back into the knife block damp or even wet. The article that I read said that even putting damp dishes into a dark cupboard would cause bacteria to grow. So I guess that the answer to your question about putting knives into a drawer... As long as the knives are dried good before putting them into the drawer or knife block, you should be ok and not have to worry about bacteria growing. 😊

You don't need to do all that breaking up potatoes and stirring everything hard like that. Just let it cook and stir it gently when its nice and warm. The potatoes will seperate and everything will be much easier to stir. And the butter will melt on its own. I never saw anybody manhandle a slow-cooked meal like that.

When it is dark as I want it I mix it with the broth and blend and add it in the gumbo
