It is so exhausting watching white people are your things. Listen, I grew up in the hood, just as poor as the next person, fell into drug addiction, and had my first kid at 17, 5 days after my 17th birthday. One of my children has a masters degree in Behavior science and a ton of loans; nothing was given to her for free. My middle child just passed his national boards to be an EMT, before that, he worked as an aquatics director for YMCA and Boys and Girls Club, both in the inner city. Nothing was given. to either of them.

Charlie is 100% correct here. I'm American Indian, as in actually enrolled. no one who saw me would consider me white as I am very dark and both of my parent are American Indian. Those who live on reservations are the poorest in America, often poorer than people in 3rd world countries. I have spent time on Pine Ridge, a place you have to see to understand. My father left Oklahoma after being abandoned by his Father and Mother and went to work in the Houston, Tx oil industry in the early 1970. We were so poor when I was a kid that we often just had a can of beans for everyone to split. As a kid, I made my own toys. But things got better over time. I paid my own way through college by working 2 jobs, but I was able to live at home rent free during that time. Now I am in my late 40's but I have a doctorate, a household income of $300,000 a year, and my kids are able to go to private school and have never known hunger. I am living proof that you can go from abject poverty to abundance in just one generation through nothing but hard work and vision.

Good work. People forget about how we just moved in and took over your lands. Very few realize the poverty on reservations. Some lands “ given “ are not much good for anything. Hard work and determination will be beneficial to anyone, any race or culture. Not many are willing to do the work but are more than happy to sit around and complain and take handouts.

The rez is hit and miss. Im white and i live on the rez with my Hopi wife. We left the city to move out here because its nicer. There are people who still have outhouses and haul water and there are people with 2023 Tundras and 2500 Silverados. Basically its the same as anywhere else- people who want to work and make money do well. Others who couldnt be botheted to work for a living have absolutely nothing. The rezervation here is the same as just any old unpopulated part of OK or TX. Open land with trailers here and there.

I'm from the Tslagi Reservation. I grew up in a garage convert just passed "the last gas station" in Broken Arrow, OK. I agree also, and I'd also add being that poor growing up gave me a great appreciation for education and making money. Funny, I also took the medical path, but I never got enough money together to finish Med School. I did finish the PA bridge though 🍻 Glad to see others of our generation get outta there. You and I are part of a very small group of people...well unless you count the Casino check tribes...

I came to American as a young girl from Morocco, I was poor growing up, I didn’t know it because we had a lot of love in the house and food on the table. My dad worked two jobs to take care of my mom and 6 kids. I received a JD. I have 4 daughter: 1st has a MD, 2nd just got her Masters ; 3rd just received a BS: 4th just started university and is a Biology major and hopefully will continue. All of them knew how to read before they started kindergarten. Charlie is 100 💯 percent right, if you have a loving home and encouragedment you will succeed. I have told my daughters they need to do better than my parents because we have more opportunities then they did. Which was why they came here to give us the opportunity. And we need to take advantage of this. And I did, my children, and so will my grandchildren! Education was a value in our house!

"Police treat black people worse, I've seen it"" How so? I have black friends, I'm white, I was driving one night, my car, with my black friend, cop pulled me over ( I had a headlight that went bad). The cop asked for ID, Gave him mine, he asked my friend for his and my friend Sean got upset, asked "why do you need my ID? You looking for warrants?"" I said Sean it's ok, he'll give me a warning to get light fixed and we're out". I didn't see a reason to be mad at the officer, but my friend did. Because many black people walk around with a "chip on their shoulders" when it's not nesscesary. "You can't talk your way out of a ticket, but you can talk yourself into one"..

Well, legally your friend is right and is entitled to his 4th amendment. Only the driver needs to provide ID during a traffic stop, passengers do not. A cop can ask, but a passenger has every right to decline that request.

They didn't learn anything, but the people listening to the conversation got something out of it. Often times you can't change the mind of the person you are debating with, but people observing from outside the conversation can see both sides clearer. When you feel like someone is attacking your views and your beliefs, it's very easy to dig your heels in and not listen to them. Writing them off as stupid, dumb, bigoted, racist, sexist, the list goes on, doesn't take any self reflection.

Not a lot of work, in my opinion. Its time. As someone who is also a drop out like Charlie, I used that time in ways most people never do. Which was reading, researching, and paying attention at levels most people simply dont have the time for. Wasnt always fun. And frankly, sometimes lonely. Thats why I, in all honesty, dont ever hear much during debates/discussions that I havent already learned for myself, like Charlie, because we've simply put in too much TIME. Trying to "work hard" to accomplish this same level of being informed usually just burns people out and makes it harder to retain info long term... From experience. Theres simply no substitute for time. And thats the 1 thing people like Charlie have put in that most people over look.

I’ve watched several videos of people interviewing college students in different places and stupidity is high. Name two countries that border the US. By like 50 years. So, why do people say America is so evil for slavery? When America was created, slavery was already established. America actually ended it. What was it, like 89 years?
