Wait wait wait...this movie was Elizabeth Bank’s idea, she’s the only one who wanted it, and she wrote and directed it. Her character is front and centre of the poster, she is the leader of the team, and she’s “the first Angel to become a Bosley”...is this a fucking fanfic? Is this Elizabeth Banks putting her own self-insert fanfic character into a franchise?

In the 1930s there were movies like Stage Door and The Women that have almost entirely female casts. Both movies were hits with men and women and are considered classics today. They say they need to be equal and be allowed to be apart of everything a man is-then- turns around and gets mad when a man tries to be a part of anything they do. Ciata Yagermanjenson not sure if I misunderstood your comment, but if you mean feminists think that man should be excluded, but then get angry at the same men for not taking part, that isn’t feminism, that’s misandry. I’m a feminist, I believe there are women’s issues we should strive to fix, however I don’t hate men. I hate when people co-opt the feminist movement as a disguise for misandry. I’m quite disappointed in these clips of Elizabeth Banks. I was a fan, but her responses made me uncomfortable. Men were not the problem with her movie.

"women don't walk into a room and immediately start fighting" Well, no, in the civilized world no one does. But if I'm walking into an action movie I darn well expect to see some action. And having seen the other Charlie's Angels movies, I expect some crazy shenanigans as strong, fierce, gorgeous women proceed with the ass kicking, and I say this as a young woman who would also presumably be part of the target demographic. I've seen Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels full throttle dozens of times and while I can say there is definitely cheese, I always thought they were pretty great in terms of trying to empower women. Yeah, there are a lot of male fanservice moments, but what I always took away was that women could be just as badass as men. And because they were women that would often be underestimated it made those badass moments even greater because they overcame insurmountable odds and came out on top. They were strong, athletic, smart, witty, on top of being absolutely gorgeous and incredibly confident. Everything a girl or young woman could possibly aspire to be. The franchise didn't need a "feminist reboot" and would probably have done much better if the director wasn't framing it that way and challenging and outright attacking people who didn't want to go assuming it was going to reflect her man hating attitude. All she had to do was come up with a decent action flick, market it as an action movie that featured strong women, and leave it at that and they'd have been fine. Slapping that manhating feminist agenda is what killed it. And no, I'm not saying feminism is the problem. I'm saying the directors version of it is.

It's the usual situation: - Make a movie starring women. - Say you're fighting sexism. - Pretend all previous, popular movies starring women don't exist. - Insult men as much as you can. - Put no effort in your movie, showing how low an opinion of the gender you're supposedly praising you really have, because you expect them to show up just because women star in it. - No one goes to see it. - Blame men for it. If these kind of filmmakers put as much effort in their movies as they put in their constant audience insulting they'd make billions.

I talk about the charlies angles movies like that cause I only knew the movies and the fact this one was pandering to the whole social justice stuff and feminism that it took a lot away from the movies. Like yeah I know we as a society need to do better but just about every other reboot now a days is feminism good, men bad, and some kind of over the top message about how we as girls need to be empowered and its annoying. Like just make a good action movie with out a damn lesson or shoving some sort of moral down everyone's throat.
@ArchieRatsworth
@ArchieRatsworth 2 жыл бұрын
@@kitty14izawsum Its not morals that bug me, it's naked morals that have no depth. Wonderwoman had plenty of morals, the ending has the final antagonist literally arguing for his moral standing while trying to beat a woman into submission and failing because she's strong in her own right. Aliens 3 has a colony of men who chose to live in exile after committing violent crimes, listening to a woman because she knows about the monster trying to murder them all. Both of these are powerful movies with morals, but the morals are for the characters. Diana is powerful but sheltered and unaware of true war, so she's caught by surprise and must draw on her strength, intelligence and compassion in new ways to succeed. Ellen is grieving for her lost child but she has to adjust and keep fighting and trust the criminals she's trapped with.

Pretty sure not only women saw those movies if they were able to reach that high. It’s literally less of who is in the movie (male/female, ethnicity, etc.) but more of how the movie was made/what is the movie/the anticipation of the movie. When these badly written movies come out, a lot of us dont resent the female gender as a whole. We throw our hate to the studio for allowing this to happen. So if any of you females get disappointed for these movies making your gender look bad, just remember that only an asshole would fault an entire gender for one bad movie. I like the fact that she used the word "asked" to, as if the mere act of asking a woman to, of her own volition, go and do something that in any way benefits a man constitutes sexism & patriarchal bias. So, Liz, what you're saying is that men have asked you if you wanted to go see movies starring men, you said "yes" and went, but your willingness to do so means you've been subjugated, demeaned, and made unequal? The problem with this CHARLIE'S ANGELS was Elizabeth Banks, plain and simple.

Great review! Technical note: There are several audio pops at your jump cuts. I recommend an audio cross-dissolve or fade out/fade back in, center-panned, lasting just 2 or 4 frames, to smooth out those particular cuts. Or, you could take it to the next level: open up the audio tracks to look at the audio waveforms. Clip off the pops at the beginning and ending of clips. But be sure to replace that gap with some room tone to smooth over the transition. Keep up the good work!

Yeah but I mean Marvel literally waited until her character died to make a spin-off movie about her. They should have made it way earlier, she's one of the character the people were the least invested in (with Hawkeye). They made 3 Thor movie. I like Thor as much as the next gal but couldn't they just make 2 movies about him and 1 about Black Widow. She was one of the originals.

one of my favorite parts of the Charlie's Angels was the Thin Man, also a hitman, also doesn't talk. Dude is just a *Freak* and was perfectly played by Crispin Glover, and his face-turn in the second movie was incredible. I don't like him because he's a man, but because _He's. So. Fucking. WEIRD._ and yet *competent!* Could have been played by a woman and been just as unique. And we kind get an _idea_ of what his deal is, but we never *really* do. Is it even a boycott then ? She said it wasn’t for you. Tinker bell films aren’t for Ninja turtle fans

Hi, Amanda. I'm old enough to remember the '70s TV show, which I occasionally watched. I saw the first feature film in a movie theater. I remember getting a wild adrenaline rush when I saw it. I've seen parts of "Full Throttle" on television. For me, Bernie Mac, may he rest in peace, stole the second film as Bosley. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music
