Love videos like this. In the south , we got the same struggles & upbringings but we all have different dialects, accents, slangs , etc & that’s what sets us apart from other parts like the west coast , up north, east coast, etc. much love to them folks though

@@ayinstrumentals7731 lived in Memphis 83-89. Downtown seemed 90% black. I really struggled to understand, especially the middle aged and older blacks. It was like a different language but I think many were from backwoods of ol” Mississippi.

I got friends from West Africa ( Liberia, Sierre Leone ) who are fascinated with southern folks style of speech. Much of y'all's cadence is very similar to Colloqua from Liberia and Krio from Sierre Leone

I'm a NC native ...Durham ,Nc a.k.a Bullcity...Ive lived in Charlotte,Miami,DC , Baltimore and now reside in NYC. I can say that the whole damn country is bout southern in dialect with exception from the Northeast and far west . But most of us are the same it's eerie. I appreciate your videos brother.

Shii here in Texas We have what is know as the "Texas Draw" But the Texas Draw comes in more than one Dialect. Such as The west Texan, North texan, southern Texan, Central Texan, Valley, Panhandle, East Texan..we just have so many dialects..were basically our own country

Has my city in it (Miami) and i must say its about as accurate as you can get in such a short amount of time, embodying the feel, common characters one is likely to find and evidence of violence. The accent in Selma is similar to the accent in Little Rock, Arkansas. I imagine this is the same accent you'll hear in most Southern towns.

I’m from dallas and there was a boy in high school from Louisiana and he sounds just like those guys from Louisiana !! that’s crazy i never realized that each state in the south has distinct accents, i always grouped the southern accent together as one

Big mistake not your own but the media always pushing the "idea" of something being homogeneous but that's only because it benefits them in someway. What I found about Southern accents is that we make sound the same in certain phrases but upon further hearing the difference come out. The media only exposes the similarities never the differences. I heard boys from Louisiana Georgia Alabama and South Carolina sound like me in part of they speech and said "oh they say it like me too" and I could pass for one of them but only for a while till they start hearing the differences.

I still have a problem distinguishing the different Southern Accents(both back and white) , so I'm glad to watch this.I'm a black Caribbean millennial who lives in the Northeast US .Yes I can understand most of what the hood guys say, but I only can guess that it's Southern.

Canadian born and raised here and it always bugs me when northerners talk smack about southerners like they're bad people. I've been to the south a handful and times and been around the legit areas and was always treated better than I ever have up here.
