I love how Democrats community are so stupid think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the Democrats community to our society. I love driving down there streets and seeing the American flag waving so proudly in every yard. Their peaceful and generous nature make them ideal neighborhoods family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. You can witness this by their strict adherence to our local and Federal laws. Their commitment to academic excellence en-riches our schools and services as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as people. Just watching their Special kind of Science change our society is simply amazing. I mean,who ever thought there are 187 Genders? Real estate values are fueled by the mix of Democrat Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of all they have achieve through their enthusiasm for self improvement by hard work and a self-reliant can-do nature. For those who don't know we in Chicago speak with a Midwestern accent sprinkled with a little southern drawl from our grandparents & great grandparents from the south nuff said
@omfgCantGetaUsername2 жыл бұрын
My grandfather was from SC. My dad was born in Philly. He says, fatigue, like fa-tigg, classical Philly stuff. I heard a very elderly black lady once say, Iggles for Eagles. Classic Philly. Generation X, and millennials like myself lost that feature of the dialect. On my mom side my grater grands were from VA. My grand parents born here. None of them had a southern accent at all. Or deep traces of southern qualities. It's not about southern roots. Concentrated segregation is what caused this. Maybe to you, but there's zero traces of a midwestern accent in most midwest black accents. From a Northeast POV it all sounds the same as anywhere in the south, and more deep south for Chicago. I can't make it up. But, it's what make y'all unique, don't loose it.

As a end of Gen X Chicagoan, I can say that our accents have changed some, but historically there was and still is a distinct sound. And that sound varied amongst Blacks and Whites because of migration. White Chicagoans would have a nasal sound which was a mix of the countries they migrated from (Eastern and Central Europe like Poland and Ukraine) mixed with the midwest. Then Black Chicagoans would have that mix of the midwest and southern country because the grandparents and great grandparents migrated from the South. You can really hear it in someone like Kanye. And now, that slow country hood sound can really be heard in younger Chicagoans. I love it though. I love hearing where people are from by just listening to their dialect.

I agree with you but the nasal sound didnt come from Europe. Its part of the Northern Cities Vowel shift in American English. We did get other things from European languages like adding extra prepositions "over by" or adding an S at the end of a place you are going to "im goin to jewels". These come from german. I am fascinated by African American accents because they are always a mix of the southern dialect mixed with the local dialect. African Americans from Chicago and NYC will sound similar and very different at the same time. Its very interesting.

Yes! Agreeing from Chicago. A lot of OG Chicagoans have expressed the same thing the OG's from Brooklyn and NJ were saying. The older gangs use to be more intuned with one another and came together to help one another, cause that was the whole point of creating gangs. Back in the days, if there was going to be a shootout or something they would let the women and kids know to stay home cause it wasn't gonna be safe. You REALLY AND TRULY SPEAKING SOMETHING HERE! I remember years ago when I was extremely WORDLY! Drugs, alcohol, clubs, etc. & my stomping ground was with the Mexicans.. I couldn't hear it & never noticed it.. But it's like spiritually I became different.. If you heard me speak during that time in my life I spoke like a true Hispanic woman. Would only listen to their music. & coming out of that life working @ a store a lady asked me where was my accent from.. It's like it hit me like a ton of bricks.. Being in their environment doing the devils work, I had changed over the years & didn't notice. I thank the Lord for saving me. & I still have mad love for my hispanic people! I just had to get back on track. I failed to mention this is the beginning but I'm Black.. Lol. 🙏👑❤ Peace & Love to us ALL! If you DON'T know God, if you question/doubt if He's real, HE IS!!!! GET TO KNOW HIM! ASK HIM TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE & SHOW YOU HE'S REAL!

When I was 15 years old, my mom decided she wanted to live in Chicago. We moved out there on 65th or 69th and Paulina, I think…. I went to Roberson high school but as soon as I was old enough to leave home, I left Chicago. That life is for some people but not for me. I was bullied very first day of school…chased home because they said I was trying to pretend like I was white. It was just the way I spoke (from Indiana)…because of where I came from. I didn’t have that same mentality and my “accent” so I just didn’t fit in and I was more than happy to leave. As I said some people like that lifestyle, but I just was not for me.

Its nice to get in touch with the urban culture from all these areas, I have been in NY long time ago. I am from The Balkans, Eastern Europe and I have been in the US only for a summer (in Ocean city, MD, but also in New York City). For Eastern Europeans or Asians is a such a luck or blessing to have a chance to live the American dream... or, with other words, to work in the US... I don't know why so many young gangsters are focusing mostly on this negative shit like gang wars etc instead of building their own life and prosperity... Focusing on wrong things from a young age, I think... I grow up on gangsta rap and all this shit, under influence of American and mostly Black culture, I love this! So, don't get me wrong, I am not there to judge or even try to give advice, just sharing my opinioun as someone far outside these areas... Peace!
