Look I’m a woman … live in nyc since 17 years. Ok I’m 5,11 not tiny … but. I worked on the 6 line when I was in college, living in Harlem west… so working in a restaurant in east village. I took the 6 almost every night after 2am .. and walked on 125th from East to West … for 4 years!!! Except maybe once …. If you keep in walking no one really bothers you. Clearly don’t stop at a atm at those times in those areas .. but I always worked in restaurants and lived in many hoods …. Always took the Mta at night …. Had maybe 3 “scares” in 17 years !!!

The walk through is so much realer than the drive.. I'm from NY and still felt like I was walking through with him. Crazy how normal this has become to me over the years of passing through. Seeing it on video it just diff for some reason. And it's a shame bc it's not getting better anytime soon. There's a mass exodus out of NY rt now. Who would even think about opening a business on any of these streets? Whole city is just filled with an uneasy tension.

Why are people leaving, because of the vaccine passports thing?
@limit420
@limit420 Жыл бұрын
@@studas2011 no there's been a mass exodus from NY since before Covid - that just made it worse. Main reason is the pricing. NY is a cesspool but is still 1 of the most expensive places in the world to live. Have friends paying $1200-$1600/month for beautiful, 3-4BR houses down south. In NY, you're lucky to find a 1BR POS appt or a studio for under $2K. That's not even considering the property tax (usually about 10x more than other states). Now with this bail reform and criminals being released same day, it's rly becoming a problem. I'm out on Long Island most of the time and it's a little better out here but same story. Even in the nicest areas you'll get approached by a homeless guy asking for $$ or a criminal looking to scam/rob u. What happens is, NYC adopts whatever policies Cali starts. Then, the counties usually follow along soon after. So even if u live in a nice area, out of NYC, u still deal with the same BS as living in NYC.

I'm from NYC my parents are from Harlem and I frequent this area (grandma still lives in harlem). He passed 125th and Lexington and the the adjacent blocks. Anyone that's from the old days knows that where the zombies live, people so badly strung TF out on drugs man and it's been like that since my parents were young back then. Sad shit man they come and gentrify the area and the people that need help they just let them continue living in hell, I'm all for making areas safer but don't forget about the generations of people living here, (some who been living here since the 1950s calling this place home for their entire lives).

This is so heartbreaking, and I know many of these folks are good people just trying to get by. NYC is so expensive to live in, with all that tax money you think they could do a better job with housing, cleaning up the streets, etc.

@@solar_warden81 I get your point but regardless the govt should be helping there community instead of watching people live in poverty 24/7. It's like this in Toronto too no different. If you think the govt really cares then I feel bad for you, all I can say is look around you.

@@clementgoetke2385 they sure love to pocket free money off us everyday don't they, which includes your wallet too bud. Drugs and such are the citizens choices, but the govt is too blame for keeping this happening instead of doing something about it. @@teewilson9568 your missing the point in my comment. It's not people hanging on the street, if you pay attention to your surroundings in areas like this, all we see is homeless, crime and if anyone on low income has housing it's very unsustainable. Govt always improves projects for there financial needs and the rich but if your under in middle class or poor, then your mainly given the shaft.

Probably one of the safest looking videos I've seen him walk around in. Aside from rich folks who don't know better, most people aren't afraid of homeless people. A lot less likely to actually cause problems with you than drunk white boys outside bars or dudes in the actual hood.
