I’m Australian and I adore our John’s performance. Then I saw Dan do this and, well I had no words, just tears and a very deep respect for his creative abilities. He does say he is Christian in his beliefs, maybe that helped him find that connection. But my God, words are a bit superfluous here really😢😮

i have heard maybe a hundred versions of this song, from Takeshi Kaga (Iron chef chairman) to Kermit the Frog, to Jesus Christ Surferstar...No one combines the passion play with technical expertise, like Dan Vasc, but most of his Vasc catalogue is this awe inspiring.

You had me with that comment about his grandma tripping over a huge beetle. I was like “really?!” Your rubbish made me chuckle. He did do a cover for his father when he passed from cancer. His favorite song was ‘an American Trilogy’ by Elvis Presley. He posted it just days after it happened. Raw emotion yet still completely professional.

I never heard this song before hearing Dans version . I can't count the times I have watched this and every time I'm just stunned into silence words just aren't enough to describe Dan's intensity into which I'm drawn. Beautifully done. Thank you Dan. Your singing makes my days so much brighter.

Dan is a totally dedicated performer. In this performance you recognize something you might not have encountered before.... A Christian delving deeply into the sacrifice of our Savior. Dan has captured the doubt and fear and determination and resolve of the son of God who is willing, yet fearful, to sacrifice himself for the sins of everyone in the world so that we don't have to. I have never witnessed a more compelling performance.

Ok, I have never heard of this guy... I spent quite some time in middle school listening to Jesus Christ Superstar with my friends, wearing headphones in the school library, and learning the songs by heart. That was when it was first released. Yes, that long ago. We were obsessed! This guy not only gave me chills, but I was having a hard time sitting still and felt like my breath was stolen! I almost started to sob. His voice was incredible, and his emoting really took me there. This was even better than the original with Ian Gillan playing Jesus. Thank you for reviewing this and thanks to KZfaq for bringing this up on my homepage. I haven't run across you before.

I just went and looked at your list there is a style that Dan has done that you haven't listened to yet. He also does acoustic folk music. He does a cover of a Scottish folk tune called Lake Lamond with a friend of his. They formed a group called Spyglass Inn and they focus on folk, and period pieces.

Looks like I’m going to be the first to jump in the proverbial Valley to the Mountain, here. It’s okay, because I’m glad that I don’t have other comments in my head. You brought up something that I have not quite gotten to speak about, due to the actual depth of feeling to the lyrics and of course, the instrumentals. When you used the term ‘chameleon’, you surprised me, as I have been thinking that every time I watch and listen to Dan sing/perform. Each song, I see several different people, depending on the song itself. This song had me at a bit of a fork in the road. I get it, I do… and I kept looking at your expressions, to see if you reacted when I did. This performance is a psychological masterpiece, but needs the right amount of portrayal. As you stated, there is a fine line before you can go over the top. It)s the psychological essence that caught my attention the most. I’m sure that if you get any psych babble, you’ll get what I’m saying…so, I’m going to try to get this across by keyboard, and not by interaction. In Psychology, we use the terms ‘manic’ and ‘Psychotic break’, to describe patients, after evaluating behavior resulting from an external vs internal force. This performance exemplified exactly what you had said, when you described the “melting pot” of emotions. If one were to see what Jesus could have been going through, when He walked into that Garden, and poured out His heart, before having His blood pour out in such a brutal way….I myself can see, that even Jesus, who came back to have Judas hand him over to the Centurions, literally sweating blood tears, which is an actual occurrence, when someone knew they were about to face every kind of physical as well as psychological emotion, and only He knows what else. The passing from bewilderment, to anger, to fear, to submission, to resolve…and back and forth, shows all of those feelings going back and forth in a mind that cannot comprehend what is happening, long enough to gain some form of control, without actually crossing into that broken state of Psychosis. I am a fan, I guess you could say. But, it was more of a trying to figure out, who is the person, so I could separate between the Artist, and the Art. I have interacted with him (not as a groupie, at all); but due to his having someone compliment his ability to change from what one would ‘expect’ Heavy Metal to be, into a completely different genre, and still be true to ones passion. I also told him to stop with excuses about something, and I think I even said that there was some narcissism showing… Anyway, I think it was him, being real. And this performance, as well as ‘Dawn of a New Day’ are polar opposite’s. ‘This’ though, truly through me…and hey, I saw Ted Neely, and that man can scream a note. Soooo sorry I babbled, but you have been extremely real in the way your analysis of these video’s has been a researchers dream. Does your analytical mind get you in trouble too ?
