The "Old Guard" was awesome, but then Charlize Theron is awesome all in herself. She has total range in acting. There's literally nothing she can't do! Did I mention she's awesome❣

I think if someone had the ability to let you live or die asked you "would you like to live forever?" most people will say no but on the other hand if that same person asked you every night before you fell asleep "would you like to wake up tomorrow?" I think most people will say "Yes I want ONE more day." This could go on forever,Just.....one more day.

Wow! Never thought about it that way. While I've pondered over this point many, many times, especially after watching (and re-re-watching) movies like 'The Man from Earth', it never occurred to me that the question could be answered in this manner too. Also, if someone were to ask me whether I wanted to wake up the next day, I'd certainly say yes, while also wondering long and hard about the asker's motives.

Surprised you? It's "Highlander" with an entire cast that can act with semi-fleshed out characters. One of them even mentions that he thinks they're eventually going to have to fight each other until there's only one. Even the actors knew it was a "Highlander" ripoff.
@lesleybarklay798
@lesleybarklay798 4 жыл бұрын
@@ridetillidie8090 I watched Highlander once in the 90s. The only thing I can remember from the movie is "There can be only one." If you thought it was predictable, that's cool, but I was pleasantly surprised, and that's okay too.
@ridetillidie8090
@ridetillidie8090 4 жыл бұрын
@@lesleybarklay798 Not dissing you, just saying "Highlander" is an iconic immortals movie and this movie totally rips off the "Highlander" movie, but has better acting and they fleshed out the characters more. If there's surprise here, it should be mine that you only saw "Highlander" once!!!! :D At least they paid homage to it by the guy's line that he thought they eventually would have to fight until there was only one. I'd love a prequel with Charlize playing herself through the ages, but she's too tall to play your average 4'9" middle ager. :D Stay safe!
@lesleybarklay798
@lesleybarklay798 4 жыл бұрын
@@ridetillidie8090 From what I remember, Highlanders had several movies to flesh out characters? And weren't they all lopping each other's heads off and fighting each other? I don't see the very short term betrayal at the end of The Old Guard as being similar to the Highlanders actively trying to kill one another, but maybe I'm not remembering it right. *SPOILERS* I was surprised because I thought the MC was going to sacrifice herself at the end, and then the new character was going to become the leader of the group. I didn't predict the betrayal until the new character realised it. Maybe I just don't watch enough action movies. I really enjoyed Andy's character, though, and the new girl (whose name escapes me at the moment). I be interested to see more, but I don't know if I would enjoy sequels since, having watched the first, I feel like I have the measure of the movies.
@ridetillidie8090
@ridetillidie8090 4 жыл бұрын
I can see your point of view. However, I'd love a prequel to show how the gentleman discovered her; I think through the many ways her ax was portrayed (for real) throughout history in so many varied cultures. What his discovery and suspicion did to him; what he sacrificed and whether their paths crossed at any time. More intrigue and less action, except for that done in flashbacks, would make for a movie I might actually pay for. As for the "Highlander" sequels; trust me, you didn't miss anything. I tried one and walked out after 10 minutes. Stay safe.

"dope?" You must love "Highlander" then because this movie was a glaringly obvious "HIghlander" ripoff. It's like a prequel if the Immortals in "Highlander" hadn't yet figured out they were supposed to fight until there was only one. One of them even says he thinks they're supposed to fight each other until there's only one. They even stole the whole "awakening" thing, which they fleshed out a little bit, which brought Ramirez to the Highlander.
