Haley had a very recognizable singing voice. People should know him from other films besides the Wizard of oz. He was very multitalented

He's gorgeous! He makes me think of my favourite anime character, Baron Humbert von Gikkingen.

They were secondary characters in this film, but this particular song and dance is a highlight of the entire movie.

And to think that Jack Haley was NOT the automatic first choice to play the Tin Man in "Oz." What happened to Buddy Ebsen during that film was very unfortunate, but at least it gave Jack Haley the opportunity to come in and create one of the most endearing characters in the history of film. What a charming, talented guy.

I LOVE THIS SONG! I just bought the soundtrack on Amazon. It was expensive, but totally worth it.

The way you know you are watching two amazing talents is -- You can't decide which one you want to watch more. By the way, catch Haley dancing the hula in "Navy Blue" next to Jack Oakie. Like Chaplin, he could be more feminine than a woman when he chose to.

Worth noting, L. Frank Baum (the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) had the Scarecrow say that the Tin Man was "ever inclined to be a dandy" in The Marvelous Land of Oz. Which further strengthens the belief that Haley was a perfect choice to play the Tin Man. (I know that he was pretty much a last minute replacement, but you wouldn't be able to tell.)

This is the first Betty Grable movie I remember seeing where I knew it was her. Grable in technicolor was great to see.This is one of my favorite films of that time. Good cast and production numbers.

@SSArcher11 Eyes always go to the gals! Charlotte Greenwood and her legs steal the show every time!

Charlotte Greenwood has a sense of humor about her long legs. She called herself the only woman in show business who could get out of a cab from both sides at once!

The colorization makes this movie look more like it was made in the 50s, when it was actually made in '41
@hebneh2 жыл бұрын
The "colorization" you refer to is actual, original Technicolor. This film was made in color; the color was not added later.

@@SillyCreatureSally I believe all of Shirley's most popular films, from the 1930s, were black & white except for "The Little Princess" and "The Bluebird".

@gregoryagogo Well that would have been cool but it is already being delivered :). Thank you for being so thoughtful! I appreciate it. Besides, I like all the songs. I also ordered the soundtrack for Guys and Dolls because they didn't have it on Itunes (not with the cast singing, anyway)

@fffentoozler Did you buy the soundtrack just for this song?! Get Real player plus, and for $20 a year, you can right-click on the video, download it, then convert the format from vid to mp3!
