So much of Jack's work was overshadowed by Oz. He has an almost Harry Langdon style in some of his silent reactions here. One of the best musical comedy stars of his day.

Until Haley had done THE WIZARD OF OZ, his movie roles were mostly light weight goofy characters that didn't demand much acting range. Perhaps his best role before OZ was in the Shirley Temple film, POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL. But his portrayal of The Tin Man showed a greater range of acting than he had shown before and after. THAT is primarily why this role overshadowed all of his other work.

Haley is an underrated golden age actor. Multitalented actor singer and dancer. I could listen to him sing anything, he has a lovely voice. Although what was he eating in the beginning of the video, cotton balls?

For quite some time, I don't know why this song kept coming into my head. I took the chance to see if this scene was on YT. I knew the male singer Jack Haley sang it but did not know the name of the actress. So, I did a search and discovered the girl was Phyllis Brooks. Nothing really came up on YT using the name of the song "Alone With You" during this era. When I entered her name, then the song finally appeared. Thank you JackHaleyFan for uploading this scene. It is a timeless treasure.

This film was black and white, not color of Technicolor. It's been colorized but that was added decades later.
