The CT Magic foundation does OK on my normal 63 year-old skin, however, this new Charlotte Tilbury foundation was so glowy all day long and showed texture in a huge way no matter what I did to it. I actually took the CT back and got the Nars instead. I wore the NARS today and I absolutely love it!

Hi Shelby ! So I bought the CT foundation last Saturday and returned it yesterday. Didn't work out for me. I don't have a lot of imperfections and still the coverage was so so and my pores were more visible than with my l'Oreal foundation! The glow was too much! I totally agree with you! I exchanged it with the Nars one (my 1st Nars foundation) and I totally loved it upon application even without my full face on! I said "game changer" yes! I love it! Very lightweight and yet the coverage was good. So that's a keeper for me! Love your reviews as always and I'm happy you think the same thing about the CT, I wanted to like it a lot but nope! Especially for the price

Ok now I know I’m not crazy. If the CT highlights pores and texture on YOUR perfect skin, I don’t feel so bad! My skin is dry but my cheeks looked greasy while my chin looked flaky. I will have to keep wishing for Light Wonder with slightly more coverage. Girl that green is your color btw 😍

Totally agree with you! I bought the CT foundation first (it was my first time trying any CT product aside from her powder) and I felt the same way you did. It looked so patchy after even a short time of wear. I exchanged it for the NARS one and I love it so much more! I should've known because I own a few other NARS foundations and love them all :)

That is how L’Oréal age perfect sat on my skin but worse! I was an oil slick with foundation sitting in every line and wrinkle I have. I did go back try it without moisturizer and it was a bit better but still just sat on my skin and lines. Yuck! This Nars is intriguing and it looks amazing on you. And the color of this shirt sets off your eyes, beautiful on you! Thanks for this video, can’t wait to try Nars!

I just purchased the NARS foundation as a birthday gift for myself and I love it! I have oily combination, acne-prone skin and it lasts a full work day on me with primer & powder/setting spray. Vallauris matches me perfectly.

Nars = FRESH glow. I picked it up yesterday and Im literally so excited about it. It held up very nice for a serum foundation even on my oily skin.

I got a sample of the CT Beautiful at Sephora. I’m pretty sure (but not positive) that I got a few sensitivity bumps from it. I only felt “meh” about it anyway so I will not be buying it. Taylor Wynn discussed the excessive shine of it, just as you did. Exactly like you said! As a “wiser” aged woman with lines, wrinkles and some texture, I definitely agree that too much shine just draws attention to those. 😑 Thanks for great review!

This was such a good review. 10 out of 10. I too have dry skin and almost identical skin texture. My skin tone is slightly deeper but close enough to gauge my shade. Thank you so much for this. I skipped on both and bought the Chanel no.1 foundation. I love it! I have dry/mature skin and the CT, very glowy foundation would've emphasised every single pore/crinkle. I ought to add, I don't wear face powder. The Nars foundation was fine and I toyed with getting it, however, because I have well over 80 foundations I decided to buy just one and the Nars was struggling with longevity - hence the Chanel purchase. As a headphone wearer, I can tell you that the sound was fine, no problems at all (I have the Sony closed back, noise reducing headphones, so I hear EVERYTHING). 👍😊

you remember to throw them away 12months after opening, right? :D And since we're on the subject of absurd, my government is forcing beauty chains to remove testers !!! Just bought 2 foundations just because they were on sale and I could get 2 shades for the price of one. Fingers crossed one of them works for winter and the other for summer

Ahh, I have very dry skin and the CT foundation is the first EVER foundation I have found that actually looks nice on me! It lasts. Doesn’t show my dry patches (unless I’m having a v bad skin day), and looks dewy not wet. It’s v comfy too. I also have NARS and it just shows all my dry patches :( interesting how it works for diff people!

@@nannccc I use the smashbox photo finish. I like primers that have the smoothing silicone effect that others hate! But works well to smooth out my dry skin :)

@@ginkel23 This one REQUIRES a water based primer, that's most likely why you're experiencing that :( Try it with good moisturizer/skincare/sunscreen first followed by a water based primer and see, good luck!

I bought the Nars foundation on you recommendation … 😍😍😍 OMG! Thank you! I have been using it for 4-5 months now. I did have to return my fist color choice…to dark… You and I are usually in the same color range but I’m a little pinky peach.. I had to get Yukon. I use Gotland in the tinted moisturizer. Yukon Disappears on my skin… leaves it glowing and YOUTHFUL!

I also tried the CT. Looked ok for a minute but it was so oily within an hour. Even on my 57 year old menopausal skin. Sat in all my ever growing pores and wrinkles. For me double wear from EL is hands down unbeatable

I have "dehydrated" and sensitive skin, and the CT one works amazing on me. The gel formula is really good for dehydrated skin, like the Touché Éclat foundation from YSL, except I was allergic to that one. It definitely makes a huge difference how you prep the skin too. I use Dr. Dennis Gross products for my skincare, including the extra strength peel pads every morning before makeup, because I constantly need to exfoliate all of my skin in general due to my skin type. So applying it on freshly exfoliated skin probably makes a big difference, the moisture from the foundation (including hyaluronic acid) can sink into my face easier than on someone who has dead skin cells built up. I would not think that would be a good situation for this foundation. I have had to play around which which moisturizer I use before this foundation but it also looks good without one. I also use the CT airbrush powder to set it. It is a glowy foundation but with the skin situation I just described, I experience something more like a juicy plumping kind of look from this foundation (not wet looking) and my skin is way more hydrated when I take it off at the end of the day. It's actually amazing. I don't personally have wrinkles yet, but I do have some scars and pore issues, and I think this makes them look much better. I get shiny with every single foundation that exists, including straight up mineral powder foundation (because of my dehydrated skin overreacting) and I think that happens LESS with this foundation than any other one I have ever tried.

New subscriber here and have to say I totally agree with your thoughts on these 2 foundations. I had first picked up the CT beautiful skin and tried it countless ways but it just didn't want to work with my dry/dehydrated/textured skin. The closest thing I can compare it to is the Huda Glowish tint they came out with last summer, it's almost identical in my opinion texture/finish wise. The glow is a tad too much for me. Nars light reflecting on the other hand really is everything. I am obsessed and have been using it every day since I got it. I have finally found a foundation I love and works for me for everyday. Can I ask what camera you are using? Your video quality is amazing, love it!

Spot on for both foundations. I just used the Nars one today and its really good. I have been struggling to make CT work to get it to be a true medium coverage without a lot of work. Nars foundation is excellent.

This was a great review! I have other NARS foundations so I don’t think I am buying now, but that could change. I did purchase the CT foundation and so far iI like it, but I have combination skin and it isn’t real cold where I live so I am not dealing with heaters in my house. The CT foundation is very glowing and I do use her powder down the center of my face and so far that is working. I am glad the NARS worked for you as I do love their foundation also. Anything new is always a learning curve, so be kind to yourself. Thanks 😊

I have the CT foundation and it is glowing, but I have used her powder down the middle of my face and that has calmed it down. I like NARS foundation but since I have some i probably won’t be purchasing another right now. New things always take some getting used to so stay calm and carry on. Thanks 😊

I got samples of both at Sephora. I was so excited to get samples as I haven't had any in over 2 years! I'm 59 with dry skin. I thought they were both nice enough but not any better than some foundations I already have like L'oreal Age Perfect. On me the L'oreal AP has more coverage than either of these. These on me have coverage similar to a tinted moisturizer. Most days working at home I wear NARS tinted moisturizer which with a little powder helps me look pulled together on a video call. I'm trying to use up what I have, so won't be buying any foundations for awhile unless they really WOW me.

Shelby, couldn’t agree more. I am probably closer to your mother’s age and when I put the CT Beautiful Skin on it showed every wrinkle I have and even some I don’t!. The Nars is much better. If you get the chance to try the new Chanel 1 foundation, I think you would really like it. It’s lovely.. The CT seems full coverage to me and I loathe full coverage. Always have. I 100% agree. I tried both the CT and the NARS foundations and prefer the NARS. I agree it gives such a healthy and fresh look to the skin. But skin prep is key. One day I did not moisturize enough and the NARS looked horrible. Like a totally different foundation.

The way you describe the CT sounds like how the ilia skin tint wore on me. It was another one that everybody raved about and just didn't work for me at all. That wet look was not cute. Plus it also somehow emphasized dryness I couldn't even see without it. And it was thick and heavy feeling but not great coverage.

I watched another review yesterday on the CT new foundation. She looked in shock after leaving it a few minutes. Her face is oily so you can imagine the super shiny look that she had. I believe she tried to calm the look down with setting powder but her face remained very wet looking on camera. Wow, I guess I’ll not buy the new CT foundation after two shiny reviews. I tried CT new foundation I did not like how it wore on my skin at the end of the day. Super wet and I even powder on my t-zone where I’m oily. But my entire face looked wet. I went ahead to return CT and exchange for the new Nars foundation and I’m in love 😍. The shade range in Nars a bit tricky and different I normally wear Punjab I have light to medium skin with neutral undertone but for some reason I had to get Deauville. Fiji seem too yellow for me.

See… I could NEVER wear Punjab but before Salzburg was a shade I would wear Deauville so I guess they do run significantly dark.

@@ShelbeyWilson Ok so I got shade matched in Sephora today and sure enough it was Deauville instead of my usual Fiji. I’m a 4N in the CT so both of you were right. Their shades are definitely running darker now.

Check the Region you live in products with hyaloronic acid in it get really dewy in areas with a lot of humidity.

Hi , i buy it and i am dissepoint too glowy not cover foundation too expensive 😭🙈😩 I stay with the Nars soft matte, radicant long wear & sheer glow that's verry Nice and better love it ❤️ The light can't go away i return that

That is interesting. Your face almost looks sweaty with the CT foundation. It doesn't look like that on me at all and I don't set it with anything. I only use a small amount and buff it. You can't see the product on my face really. It looks like my skin but better. I have the feeling that this foundation is more so for people who want light coverage. With light application I think it looks 👌🏽

I don’t think I’d wear them for the same occasions if that makes sense. Estée Lauder for a quick fresh face but Nars for a more put together look like the one I’m wearing today!

You definitely looked too glowy with the ct foundation. Liking the nars foundation on you. Beautiful 💖❤️. Your eyes look stunning with the wings. The new camera is amazing 😍. And beautiful skin.
