My wedding officiant offered, as part of his services "Point me to the one or two most unmanageable relatives and I will befriend them at the rehearsal party and keep them engaged during the reception so that they don't cause drama." and we added a $200 bottle of scotch to his payment because he did such a great job at that.

My husband cried during the whole ceremony (all he wished for was a white princess gown when I come down the aile - and I served that flawlessly!) and afterwards had our male photographer coming up to him to tell him, that he is really impressed by him showing so much emotion (they've known each other before and my husband spends a lot of effort to fit a very unnecessary manly male man picture - so yes, it was a surprise to everyone to see him so vulnerable) He surely wasn't dragged into that situation 🙄

@@JohnSmith-xp9gr And I get that. Sometimes 2 people aren't meant to be together. I'm talking about mostly these old men that have been married 50 years and they are like "I hate my wife, she's a miserable b^tch hahaha" like either leave or stfu because regardless of how you feel now you must have lived her enough to marry her at some point.

To make a woman terrified her soon-to-be husband is saying "I do not" the night prior to the actual wedding is so messed up I just don't understand what was going through their brains to think that this was a good or a funny idea at all I would immediately kick them all out of the wedding.

For anyone who’s worried, it doesn’t get sad after 30. It gets SO MUCH BETTER. Dating when you’re financially stable, secure with yourself and established as an individual saves so much time. Found my wonderful guy after 30, and have never been happier. I also had lots of people tell me I was wasting my “prime years”. What a sickening and antiquated ideology 😅

The closest I got to "odd" at my wedding was having a Superman symbol on the fingernail of my ring finger -- my husband and I met in a Superman chatroom online. Oh, and we had a lady with a computer up in the church balcony transcribing the ceremony for our online wedding guests -- about 40 people from our chatroom group attended the wedding that way. (This was before live-streaming was available.) We had about the same number of people in the church as in the chatroom, so it was a very small wedding.

I can’t help wondering if the author was giving an homage to the movie Monster In Law. You can make a lot of connections there, the three most obvious examples being that the groom-to-be has a mom that’s a psycho who hates the bride-to-be, the groom is a doctor for a living and the bride is allergic to nuts.

Ha! I have a story kind of like the "praying for the single girls" holier than thou bride...so my ex husband, after he had a thing with his assistant for months and lied about it the whole time when I confronted him, predictably he left me for her and then married her. About 6 weeks after our divorce was finalized, he called to tell me that he wanted me to hear it from him and not gossip that yes, he was indeed with the girl I accused him of cheating on me with. I asked when it started- he said "doesn't matter, I didn't love you anymore." Then he promised me that he would pray for me that I too, would find my true love like he had found his... 🤢 To this day (last I heard anyway) he tags all his social media with the hashtag "truelove." As if to convince himself, his family and friends and God that he was destined to leave me for her. All I can say is that I am a better, happier, and stronger person now and am more genuinely myself without him. Sooooooo thank God!?!?! 😆😆😆 💖

My son got married on Sunday to a wonderful, stunningly beautiful woman who I am so glad to formally have in my family. Here’s some hints future mum-in-laws. Ask what the other mother is wearing, if the bride wants that co-ordinated with the bridal party, anything but, etc. when finding your dress, get it okayed by the woman your son is going to spend the rest of his life with. It’s not about you but your first formal way to welcome her and show you respect her as much as you hope she respects you. If you don’t like each other, try harder. Be the bigger person at all times because nobody, especially your son, wants to deal with That mum-in-law. My ex husband was there with his lady. We were all lovely with each other because a) it wasn’t about us and b) we are adults old enough to have children old enough to get married c) I like them. C) didn’t matter, it was just a nice thing that happened.

I have been this way with my daughter-in-law from the beginning of their relationship. He loves her, he's chosen to spend the rest of his life with her, I raised him with the expectation that he would make good choices and I have to give him the freedom to do that. I have four wonderful grandchildren now and would never do anything that might jeopardize my relationship with them. I don't like 100% of what she does, but I don't like 100% of what anyone does. She loves him, he loves her and that's what is important. I wish my mother-in-law could have done the same for me, but I recognize that her treatment of me is what has made me strive to be a good mother in-law. So it's all good in the end.

What I’ve learned for my wedding from this series: 1) always have some tough friends as a “no wedding gown/crasher” security team who will prevent anyone wearing white from even entering the venue. Also have some to quickly remove interruptions during the ceremony/crashers during the reception. 2) never have the bachelor/ette parties the night, or even week, before the wedding. 3) have trustworthy members of the wedding party defend the cake. 4) it’s better to have asymmetrical wedding parties than have unwanted members in the parties 5) the photos are for memories, not aesthetic (honestly crazy that needs to be said).

We had an uneven bridal party and the bridesmaid with the biggest personality wound up with two escorts for the reception. Unbeknownst to us, all the pairs/groups decided to strike a pose before heading to their seats. So this bridesmaid struck a dramatic celebrity pose and the groomsmen pantomimed paparazzi taking pics. We didn't even find out about it until years later when we watched the reception footage. That's the beautiful, spontaneous sort of moment you can have when you pick good friends. Oh, and aside from a pair of cousins we both happened to befriend separately, many states and years apart, the 2 sides of the bridal party didn't even meet until just before the wedding!

Years ago, I went to an outdoor wedding on a 95-degree, sticky, mid July day, held in a cow pasture where the couple were going to build their future home. The bride was in a wheelbarrow, wheeled in by the groomsmen, and unceremoniously dumped in front of the tree stump altar. Then began that odd, 1990s tradition of the bride and groom just holding hands and looking at each other while an ENTIRE song by Martina McBride plays on a boombox and the sweating congregation just sits...watching the bride and groom watch one another, for about 3.5 agonizing minutes. When the couple (finally) said "I do," the groomsmen shot a potato gun and then swept up the corn-fed bridesmaids and made off with them over their shoulders. I've been to quite a few weddings and I can say with absolute certainty that was the most memorable one I've ever seen. 😳

My best friend isn't a fan of this bouquet-throwing 'tradition' (neither am I, btw), so, deciding that she'd have her bridal bouquet made of dried flowers (with a matching floral garland on the head instead of a veil), she simply booked the artist who made them to give a small master-class for all ladies present (7 in total, if memory serves) so that each could arrange to their taste a smaller neat bouquet for themselves with any of the materials and accessories in the colors used in the wedding decorations provided by the master. This was some years ago, a non-traditional, rather small and quiet wedding. There was none of that 'pitiyng poor singles' feeling or a girls rugby game, instead all the ladies brought home a nice small decor that reminds of that happy day every time one looks at it.

My husband and I were invited to a co-worker's wedding, a person that we were close friends with. We attended the ceremony, and when we got to the reception, found our seating cards, but there were other people sitting in our seats. We told them they were in our places, but said they wanted to sit with their friends, so would we mind sitting elsewhere? Ok, we looked around the hall, and every seat was taken. There were 4 other couples, all standing looking confused, because there were people in their seats as well. turned out someone invited 10 extra guests without telling the hall. So there were no more tables or chairs for us, or food. (we asked a server if they could set another table, and they said they didn't have any more, or 10 extra meals) My husband and I had driven all day to attend this wedding and were starving, but there clearly wouldn't be a place at the table or a meal for us. Our choice was to stand around and watch other people eat or go home. We stopped at a restaurant on the way. Btw, there were only a dozen people at the wedding, but easily 100 people at the reception. How fun it was to eat at cracker barrel in full formal attire.

I couldn't get out of the way for the other people and it was either catch it or get it in the face, so I caught it. The concept that a woman has to be married by a certain age is from the1800's and before, when life expectancy was much lower. It is outdated. Men do not have such age expectations for marriage; yes, it is a double standard some people have. Too many people get married because they think it is what they are supposed to do - to be normal. Normal for you is what ever you do, not what someone else does. The thought of marriage does not occur to me unless I watch a video like this. Marriage would be nice for the friendship and companionship, but not a need. Solitude is a need. I am not anti-people, just anti-stupid. The overlap is near 1:1.

If I ever “crashed” a wedding, I’d just go for the food. I’d bring a present, duh, cuz it’s a wedding, but I would never try to ruin anything. That’s so rude. If you’re gonna crash a wedding, be polite and bring a present.
@01AnimeFreakYuka
@01AnimeFreakYuka 2 жыл бұрын
The polite thing to do would not eat as well. The food still costs money and can get extensive. If they couple didn't invite you, you shouldn't plan on adding to their expenses. You don't know what their plans were, if they planned for 100 people and order exactly 100 plates, you would have taken their planned guest's plate. True that most order more than planned, but not every bride/groom can afford that. My friend got married before Covid hit, a group of young adults crashed her wedding. She planned for exactly for who RSVPed (buffet style food), some of her guest couldn't eat because these brats took huge portions. She didn't even know they were until her sister asked her who they were, and she realized they didn't know them. One of the people who didn't get to eat was my friend's cousin who is diabetic, she had to leave mid reception for her to find food since her blood sugar was getting low. Be polite, if you haven't RSVPed, don't crash. Go to the ceremony, and if you get invited to join that's fine.

True, extra people at the ceremony are probably okay as long as they're well-behaved and the venue can accommodate. Ok. My husband who has worked in the wedding invitation industry as a cutter and type setter for 16 years would like to point out the BEAUTY of the invitation that you presented at 2:12. He shot up from his chair and out "That's so beautiful! I love Copperplate Upper and Lower!" The script font is very similar to Markham. He loved when weird invitations would cross his desk and would save them for me.

I think the wedding dress goat yoga sounds hilarious. Stupid, harmless, and funny. I think that is why the poster said "unload" like give me the dresses you don't care about ( divorced?) Etc. Can't always find them at a thrift shop when you need one LOL

My wedding was small... the "church" was so small that they had to angle the pews to allow my full dress to allow me to walk down the aisle with my dad! I married after I was 30. We were together for 32 yrs, had 28 wonderful years together, married for 30. (the last four yrs were a bit rocky but we persevered). He passed a month before our 30th anniversary.

@@a.j.9797 they're out there looking for you. I was married, the guy whom said it was my best man at my wedding. I believe it too. I wanted to die before her then not have her in my life. Sadly we're no longer together. No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should and as they say, life's wot happens while you're busy making plans. We're still friends. I'd rather still be friend then not have her in my life at all. Always strive to be happy 💖

I was with a guy for 18 years. He was a child, and finally I got tired of being mommy, so, I left. At 45. I am 49 now and I love being single, I get to do what I want without anyone's feelings holding me back. Anc being recently disabled with an autoimmune disorder, I get to put this on my family too! I now don't let my family try to make things about them. If I ain't feeling it. I don't go to whatever gathering they try to guilt me into, saying" I just don't feel well enough to be social". Life us great if you quit letting others decide your worth and needs.my need it to do what I want. When I want. And screw the rest.

Hooray! Me too. I got fed up being his Mommy after 23 years. I realized she was dead and gone so all the hate from MIL was over. I didnt have to stay, I could go. So I did. I took my 10yr old daughter and my $$$ settlement and started my single life. 😉 He went on to date the internet, get fired from a job he had for 16 years, and destroy his credit rating. He filed bankruptcy and the bank took the house back. (That part about the house made me mad). When we were first married (6 months) he decided he was homesick and ran back to Mommy and Daddys house! Mommy got an attorney and he filed for divorce. That lasted one week. He came running back to me after he realized Mommy was going to put him on a curfew, control his money and screen his phone calls. 😂 When I divorced him MY MOM took his side. We never spoke again. She died in 2003 and cut me out of the will. My ex is now getting his second divorce I see. Ive been happily single for 25 years! I do what I want!

The bride should name (in this case, post the photobombed pictures) and shame the wedding crashers. And the internet will probably do the rest to identify them. Not saying doxxing is good but people like those girls don't deserve the courtesy of anonymity.

That's a bit extreme. They're immature douchebags who crashed a wedding, not criminals. Telling *the internet* "Hey, track these people down, they deserve it" is giving someone the excuse they need to try and get someone fired and publicly post their address for shits and giggles.

My uncle used to jokingly introduce his fiancée as his ball and chain to be. My aunt ran with the joke and brought out a plastic ball and chain during the reception and swung it around her head like a lasso. They’ve been together for 40 years and that ball and chain sits on their fireplace mantle.
