Saw a cheeky comment elsewhere that suggested the Cadillac and Jaguar represented the US and UK music industries competing for dominance, only to have a Japanese woman shredding a guitar over their wreckage. Not sure about the veracity of the idea, but certainly a poetic image.

@@crabuki1273 Their process sounds really cool: record a ton of different vocal tracks and then play back different combinations until they find one they like. It sounds as though she and Saiki-san get into pretty intense battles about which set of tracks to use. I'd loooove to be a fly on the wall for one of those. I could not agree more. We who have discovered Band Maid at this time are very fortunate. We have been able to experience watching and listening to them being a formidable rock/pop band to becoming outstanding musicians, innovative song writers, and finally a groundbreaking band. Right now things are quite cozy with Band Maidiacs. When things open up (and they will) Band Maid will no longer be able to be ignored, with sold out concerts and being swarmed by new fans and gushing platitudes from the phoney music press. We better hold on and cherish these times while we can, because this amazing time of discovery will blow up and become a world wide phenomenon.

Miku's backing vocals are fantastic on the entire album. Whether she's harmonizing, singing lead, or doing the types of phrasings she's doing here or on "Manners," she helps take the choruses to the next level. I've always seen her as the heart of the band, and I'm so glad to see that being represented in the music.

Jokes aside, I really do think that we need more people like Chase around for the reaction community to grow and be taken seriously. Even big global artists like Eminem have admitted to seeing reaction channels. The ladies from BM have also said that they feel appreciated and inspired to work harder coz of the reactions. Every artist/creator needs feedback in some form to improve their craft. Professional, detailed breakdowns like these are like gold bars falling off the sky. Sure, it might hurt sometimes if it fails flat on their face but they know its worth it 😅 As the genuine appreciation and feedback they gain is much more than little criticisms they might have to swallow.

A bit strange but I think this video of Chase about Band-Maid will be the one which I will not play again as sometimes some of his other reactions of him about Band-Maid. Not that it is a bad video or the like. I have to agree that "Warning!" is also my current favourite of Band-Maid songs, not only from their new album, but...as Chase has said "What do you want me to say, man.", he is right: "Warning!" is the current peak of their complex power rock and unbelievable ability for harmonics and catchiness. At this point you cannot say a lot more then "Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things." but less with the undertone of surprise, but with...in German you can say "Ich strecke die Waffen.", roughly a old term for "I give up." and I think that's the point where Chase has arrived, but I do not think that it is bad if you are overwhelmed about the abilities of an artist, which makes you speechless and all the praises have allready been said. I hope that Band-Maid will publish another song after "After Life" from "Unseen World", where they show their abilities in a less "peaky", maybe more rough way (I even think Chase allready can tell more to "After Life" than to "Warning!"), for these cases "Unseen World" has still some candidates (God, I would love to hear his thoughts to "Giovanni", such a bastard of a song). Keep up the good work, Chase, and do what you are interested in. Your channel, your rules, we are just guests.

Appreciate the insightful comments, and completely agree with BAND-MAID'S development in scoring, sound, and visual! It is not the same genre of music, but I had the opportunity to see and listen to Pink Floyd, Echoes Live in Pompeii, when it came out in a Chicago Theater in the late 70's. I mention this past youthful event, because I hear a similar passion for amazing musical composition, brought forward to 2021, knowing it will continue with BAND-MAID. Thanks for the great part-time Channel. Peace!

This solo is my fav of hers too. The 3 part structure is a song in itself. Opens up perfectly shreddy-but-melodic. Then she switches the feel by going unison with the vocal (letting the chunky low end really come through) and slowly letting the note fall apart. And then there's suddenly so much movement as she spreads out into wider intervals at the exact moment the rhythm brings back the 8th notes with some syncopation. Re: the bridge onward, the genius move, I think, is that they had the restraint to go an entire verse-chorus-bridge/solo-breakdown-chorus (probably half the song) all without using the riff from the opening. And, I guess because perfect isn't good enough, it repeats with double-time and vocal stings. The riff is strong enough to carry lesser songs on its own. But they have hooks for days so it never felt lacking. There's symphony-composer-levels of counterpoint and variation throughout. I... I have to ration this track because I need to change my pants whenever I hear it.

Love Band Maid. They have created just an incredible experience. It’s not just the maid outfits, it’s their stage setups in venues, chandeliers, light stands around the stage, video boards behind them with windows, etc. fog machines on songs ,like dust, theses ladies are cleaning up with their music. They have said in interviews, the outfits are like suits of armor, going into battle. After Life is filmed in the maid cafe Miku had worked in, when she came up with the idea. Kanami is just such an incredible guitarist and brilliant song composer. Miku just writes such good lyrics. Just love this band. Their music is structured so well. Grew up on classic rock, and no band since Nightwish in 2003, has grabbed me like these ladies. Hmm, I still love Kanamis Puzzle and Daydreaming solos. Nemophila is the other band I love from Japan.

Great call outs as usual Chase. One criticism is you barely even talked about MISA's work during the song other than at the beginning and especially during Kanami's solo. She's basically playing her own solo along side Kanami during that. This song just kicks ass on so many levels. From the totally bombtastic (pun intended) video itself to the composition, the tones, and especially Miku's lyrics (if you turned on closed captioning). If all you have heard from this album are the music videos then you are doing yourself a disservice. I realize you want to be able to react to create content but I would implore you listen to the album. It is.... it WILL melt your brain. My first listen to it a couple weeks ago all I could do was sit there with my mouth open in awe and giggle at the sheer audacity of these amazing women and what they have put together on Unseen World. It really will blow your mind and take you somewhere you haven't been yet... even for me a die-hard Band-Maid fan I was amazed. 2 weeks in and I'm still finding all the little hidden gems on the album. This album is what I would call... seminal for Band-Maid. If Conqueror was their most "mature" album to date then Unseen World is their most audacious, challenging, and bold album to date. They listened to the criticism (right or wrong) from Conqueror, lifted up their instruments and said, "Here, hold my beer.". :)

I gotta say for me the 2 things that stood out: #1 The backup vocals Miku provided - I feel like they added so much to the song. This whole album shes had a lot of impact for backup vocals. Shes definitely stepping up on guitar too. #2 Akane's insane drum fills. Im pretty sure one of the drum fills was a complete drum roll across all the drums lol. Like what even? The way she finds gaps and fills them in precisely without ever feeling like it was over-done is incredible. Just based on this album... I cant imagine how insane they will be in the future. Came here after your Dreamcatcher reaction. Never heard of this band but I watched the video after I saw you're gonna react to this. Even though I like Japan and japanese pop culture I never really got into J-rock. Probably because I don't like rock music in genaral because always imagine american 80s style which I hate with all my heart. However I must say just like koreans are the best at making pop and rap music(at least for me), Japan and japanese language seems to be perfect for rock. It sounds great and now I want to check more of their songs.

Band-Maid is decidedly not the typical j-rock sound. Band-Maid has worked hard to create their own sound. Their insane ability to mix multiple genres in one song is what is making them stand out, IMO. If you like Warning! I would suggest checking out Afterlife from this album. They just released a new MV for the song this past Wednesday. They have over 100 songs under their maid skirts now... there's bound to be more songs in their catalog that will appeal to you. Give them a listen and hope you fall under Miku's MOE MOE spell like the rest of us. Cheers! :)

Rock is way way more than American 80's style ( I think you are referring to the so called ' hair metal ' that I do not like so much as well ) and Band-Maid is doing rock music in a very unique style. There is no other like them. They are creating a new genre by themselves !!

@@massimilianovincioni1153 You talking just like I would talk about kpop:) That's what Dreamcatcher is for me because they are quiet unique among other kpop groups with their rocky style. If it comes to Band Maid however I honestly can't really notice big differrence between them and other j-rock bands, but again I didn't explore this genre too much so can't catch every nuance yet.

The voilin (or any strings instrument) technique where the strings are plucked versus bowed, is called "pizzicato". My favorite little trick they employ in this song is the little vocal bits under the guitar solo. Acting like another rhythm instrument and providing another layer of support for Mincho's solo.

I almost can''t wait until you get to I STILL SEEK REVENGE and NO GOD. Akane and Misa are going to destroy your "fragile eggshell mind" as Jim Morrison would say. As far as I'm concerned Band Maid is now a super group that grew into one rather than a group of really good players out of other bands getting together. What are the odds that such a group of talent would just form out of nowhere?

"...the very very best musicians out there, are names we will never hear." That's a very important point. All the more reason to recognize bands that can hold their own (which you do so well!) For groups that rely on session musicians and/or full backing tracks, it's very helpful when you can comment on whatever you can discern (like with Dustin Lynch) even when we can't see them.

Constructive and entertaining critique/review, liked how you touched on the differing guitar tones, you old lefty. Harmonizing really good on this one beefing things up and Akane just going crazy! I really enjoy all the reaction videos that are out there but one thing I noticed is that while all the reactors always ask the viewers to "like, subscribe & comment" on their reactions, they never encourage the viewers to go to a band's official video or KZfaq channel (if they have one) and do the same. Would be cool to start seeing that. :) Can't wait for Chase's and Tank's reactions to this.

This is the first song on the digital, CD and CD/DVD versions but the very last song on the second disc of the CD/Blu-Ray version. And there are two Manners in the CD/Blu-Ray too, one on each CD. Keep up your great reviews and pause the music when you have musical concepts to relate. The educational part of what the better reactors provide makes such a difference. The cars are older MODEL US and UK luxury cars, outmoded and overgrown. They represent any similar music industries built on that MODEL. Including some in Japan. Look at the lyrics. They are very clear complaints against an oversize and over controlling music industry that rushes about with the artists perilously attached, which in the end will CRASH AND BURN. Meanwhile the wise artists are gaining autonomy, finding ways to stand on their own and deliver their music outside that old model system. This is what Band-Maid is currently gaining the autonomy to do, giving them an "After Life" beyond those captive controlled conditions. (Another song using visual metaphor and verbal expressions regarding how they felt about their earlier situation.)
