@BenjieKimFishing
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
On the 903 or 1003, absolutely not. On the 904, I'd possibly go to a 1.5 ounce at the most...but would probably cap it at 1 oz to 1.25 oz. That's the limitation of the 903/1003 TRL, super sensitive with a solid backbone...but should def watch the lure rating and fish accordingly. Tight lines.

Thank you for the reply using the 903, got it for a steal at the lbc expo, and trying to learn it's limits even tho it's rated up to 3/4 Oz feel like 1oz is not that crazy but don't dare pushing it too much feels amazing so sensitive like u say like shaking a hand without a glove compared to with!

Nice catches! I do have one question though. My local beach has a decent amount of kelp, is the luckycraft still worth using, or are there better lures for a kelp rich area? (Also, do you have to cast said lure far to be effective?)
@BenjieKimFishing
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
If it's a section of beach that ALWAYS has kelp, I'd still throw the LC (cuz it's what I personally love and am best at), but I'd definitely bring a weedless Texas rig as well. The weedless rig is better if there is a lot of kelp imo. Distance with the LC is location specific. Down in SoCal, there are beaches where the structure I'm targeting is in close so distance is not as important. But in this video for example, the structure was further out and casting distance was definitely important. So it just really depends. Hope that helps, and tight lines!

Definitely here on the West Coast but more common up north. Although they are certainly around down south, but considered more of a rare catch.

Great video and great action out there! I was looking at the rod you've got and on the website there's a 10 footer with the same specs, I believe. Do you prefer the 9 foot length over the 10'? If so, there must be a good reason why and I would know which to choose for myself. Thanks so much!!
@BenjieKimFishing
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
Yes the TRL has the 903 and the 1003. But no, I don't have a good reason why I like the 903. When I started surf casting I was resistant to long rods as I was accustomed to shorter sticks. So the 903 was a compromise for me. But I will say that I'm happy with it and though the 1003 is awesome, I don't feel the need to have the extra length given what I do.

@@BenjieKimFishing Again, thank you so much. Just one more question, if you ever get the chance:) Do you think casting the 9 footer over and over throughout the day with light lures like the Lucky Craft would end up being easier or more comfortable or more enjoyable than the ten footer, or would it not matter much? Thanks again!

@@BenjieKimFishing love to hear the local waters are that productive! Hey man, what’s your opinion on this rod: Daiwa Saltist Light Action Inshore Rod STIN902MFS? I’m looking into getting into the surf action finally and considering this Rod specifically. Cheers brotha
@BenjieKimFishing
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
I've never fished the Saltist but I've only heard good things. If you're primarily looking to throw the LC110, then I'd recommend the 902MLFS as I believe it would be better for loading up the LC. The 902MFS would prolly get the job done too and it would give you options for throwing heavier things as well. But regardless of which model, I've heard good things about the Saltist.
@jasonpoultry0
@jasonpoultry0 Жыл бұрын
@@BenjieKimFishing thanks for the response man. I was looking at the 902mlfs, but if I wanted to throw a c rig I was thinking the extra rating might be good for a 1 oz weight on the 902mfs. That’s the only thing I’m kind of torn on. What do you think?
