Our Grand Tour of Egypt continues! Join us, a famous Egyptologist, & our other chateau friends as we sail down The Nile, visit the Nubian Museum, and explore Elephantine Island. We get exclusive access to secret tombs, but how will we reach them?? By camel, of course! Is it just like riding a horse? Hmmm...not quite! We end today's visit with a magnificent traditional felucca sailboat ride along The Nile River. Will Simon leave France behind to become a felucca captain in Egypt?

ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 22 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

As usual, I was enchanted. Your sister Ashley has such a soothing beautiful voice and because you speak with such laughter and love in your heart I sit and smile throughout. My daughter just got back yesterday from Paris after a whirlwind eight days in Paris with her BFF of 35 years. Everyone they encountered were so nice. Even a grumpy server stopped what he was doing the second time they ate at his restaurant and waved and waved. Too cute. But behold you showed me this glorious trip to Egypt and then again today it had a second part. I’m so happy. If you had been a teacher your students would be mesmerized by your story telling. How amazing your journey has been and we are all privileged to be invited along. Thanks Simon and Viv.

Great arial shots with Simon's selfie stick; also like the perspective: the sites are within and close the modern day dwellings. So lucky to have Curtis as a guide. What a wonderful time you are having brings back great memories for me . We went to Egypt for my 60th birthday ,walked in a pyramid sailed down the nile ,visited Aswan ,stayed in King Farouk's palace . I had always wanted to see Egypt since high school in the 60's . Oh that was fabulous! I loved being able to see this beautiful ancient land and the incredible artifacts without actually going there myself. I always heard to be very careful eating food there. I hope no one got sick. Oh and Curtis😮. Cut his hair…wow I will say he looks very sexy with the short haircut. Also Vivian, your sister has the most beautiful voice. Viviane, that was a wonderful travelogue. I discovered Egyptology as a boy in primary school and I've been obsessed with it ever since. Thank you for bringing us along on yet another one of my dream vacations. How incredible was it to have Curtis Woodside as your guide? OMG! I'm so envious. To have someone who can read the hieroglyphs on ancient walls would be a dream. I admire Curtis' devotion to Egyptology. What a fascinating study. I live in north Texas, but I don't know if I could take the Egyptian heat. You all seemed to hold up well in it though. I hope you found wonderful souvenirs to bring home. Personally, I love buying jewelry on vacation. It's a wonderful way to remind myself of past adventures. Your poor long-suffering husband Steve... JK. That was too funny. They don't even slightly resemble each other. But really, Simon is a peach. He might only get 5% screen time, but he's at least 50% of the adventure. I'm amazed at what you're able to convince him to do. BTW, I do like his personal style too. I don't know if it was Indiana Jones who came to mind, but I could definitely see him playing one of the male roles in the latest Death on the Nile film.

I understand Curtis saying that opening sites ruins the magic. I was there in Ramadan, in August when it was 52 degrees C! So there were fewer people, but even so in the underground tombs it was oppressively crowded and noisy. I would still recommend going in the insane heat to avoid the massive crowds.
