Dear Antoni, maybe I have an answer for the electrics in the towers. You might consider placing a handrail - une balustrade - against the outer wall that spirals along with the stairs. It could be hollow and hold the tubes, or - if its a wooden handrail - have a recess on the invisable side. From there you would only have short distances of wiring to the lamps. For the electrics to the rooms there are probably ways to hide the wiring in or behind drainage pipes, through sealings, behind insulation ... There will no doubt be examples in other castles. Enjoy this wonderful building!

@@TheSecretChateau There is another Chateau lady who is English and her husband is (German?) if I remember correctly and she had these delft (?) type tiles or Desvres as you say, replaced by hand ...she is an artist and she either redesigned them but in the old technique or replaced them. I can't remember. But she used one of the last artisans who does this kind of work. Perhaps you are the one? Anyway she did a fine job. She had quite the artist's eye to draw beautiful floral patterns on them in the blue & white style. The Fleur de Lis is such a special symbol of pre-revolutionary France. The royals used the symbol, and the English also used it (or copied it) and I'm sure it has special meaning and spiritual significance. Many crowns of gold among the European monarchs were wrought using this motif/symbol. I hope he retains these tiles and replaces the missing ones with one of the old manufacturers like your family as well!! He can call it the Fleur de Lis Room ...& his China or Stoneware can be in blue and white also ...that used to be very common in 17th and 18th century Europe/France as well ...especially when trade with China became more common ...then European craftsmen came up with more European scenes ...but keeping the blue and white colors. It would be stunning!!! A blue & white kitchen/dining room/family-dining area!

Finally! A Frenchman renovating his heritage! I have been watching all kinds of nationalities snapping up and refurbishing French Chateaux and was left wondering why were French people letting this happen? Were their own people not interested in saving their heritage? Was the price higher for a French person? Were the French not interested in DIY? I just couldn’t understand it. Now this!! Wonderful! And what an absolutely fabulous place! The original little castle gateway and the truly beautifully proportioned main house. It’s going to be a blast watching this gem brought to gleaming life. One last word - that unbelievable wooden floor upstairs! WOW! No other word seems to fit! And the Germans ripped up a floor like that for firewood? I pass no judgement now but I have no words for the barbarity. Well, they must be warm enough where I hope they have landed up! Good luck, Good Doctor! This is very exciting!

Or maybe the youtube channels are more international oriented, a lot of French people are renovating, taking care of heritage building. Your view based on what you see on internet might have a bias. Lovely Dr, can’t wait to see what he does with this beautiful chateau. The story of the Germans occupying the chateau remind me of my stay at Chateau de Bousquet in Normandy. They also occupied that chateau. I was stood at the front entry one morning while the sun was streaming across the stone facade and there etched into the stone was the word NAZI. It was only seen when the light hit it a certain angle. The owners didn’t know it was there. It’s fascinating to be in a place where there are so many layers of history. I lived in Scotland in a 350 yr old house, it took me while to see but in the foot worn stone stairs were fossils from when the east coast was an ancient lake bed.

Luckily, what Jacques does is appropriate. John Bourke was referring to a few others, whom I won't name - NOT to Lalande. For the building shown within the first 3 minutes, I think electricians would either use *corrugated wire loom tubing or pvc tubing* and attach electrical wire, plugs, switches, and lights to the face of the brickwork (electricians, correct me if I’m wrong). I enjoyed watching this video and look forward to seeing the progress on his renovations and the final results of all his work and research. He seems very knowledgeable and sincere in wanting to keep his renovations true to the original design. This looks like a beautiful property and I wish him success in all his plans.

This is a stellar chateau! It is in good condition for having been restored way back in the 1950's. It has good 'bones'. The original wood floor that was not removed & sold is gorgeous! It will be awesome to see the floors & the entirety brought back to its original look.

I completely agree with you it would be so amazing to use the castle how it was used in the 1700. You are living my dream! It’s my dream to properly renovate an amazing French chateaux! What a beautiful Chateau…I hope you are going to have weekly vlogs as you restore your Chateau. There are about seven that I follow and I love seeing how they bring them “back to life”. There are a few that I may not like how they restored or decorated them and I literal lyrics say, “No, please don’t paint over that beautiful wood”. So happy you are going to restore yours to the Original style. That staircase is the best I have seen to date. Oh, and the gate is stunning!

I agree! I honestly find most French people to have great taste, as when I lived/worked in France, I rarely came across anything truly out of place, inappropriate, ugly or tacky as it were. I watch numerous French documentaries, regarding Chateaux & general architecture & interior design across France & all are always, so beautiful & very tastefully furnished.

Mike Lowe: Down boy, take a cold shower. But maybe he needs help with the renovation (like the British gay couple who have guests visit and work on projects in addition to the mother, father and nephew) and you could offer your services. Yes, yes, I know you want to give him a ‘hand’ but I think you’d have to get in line! But damn, those white pants look like the’re painted on!! Mon Dieu!!😅

Thank you, for showing us your beautiful Chateau Antoni !!! There is so much to do and you might be very right by saying "it might take a lifetime". I hope you start your own KZfaq channel and let us follow this restoration. I think I would find it very difficult to decide where I would live, in the Chateau or in the gatehouse with all the magical towers. Maybe one could be a summer and one could be a winter residence. I also can't wait to see drone footage of the estate. Antoni, I like your attitude that the Chateau is not a museum and it is for living. These large buildings need to adapt to the times we live in just like any other building, but in a respectful and conservative way. I like the idea that you will be spending a lot of time a reclamation yards and Brocantes to get the things you need to bring back the magic to this beautiful Chateau !!!

For the stairs, consider battery-powered motion detecting LED lighting & invest in rechargeable batteries + a solar system to recharge. Many come with a variety of adhesives that will be far less damaging to the stone than drilling into it. If they’re bright enough & come in enough fashionable colors & finishes for kitchens, closets, & hallways, you’re bound to find something that will blend tastefully with the stone walls & stairs while giving sufficient light to navigate in the dark.

What an incredible place! In English, the stairs you have are called "Spiral Staircases".The timber framing that's holds the place up is gorgeous. Just an amazing place all around Antoni. You asked for suggestion on the front house/castle for power. You might try using base boards that are hollow to run power and/or internet, it might not be period correct but I would guess something like that would be easy to blend in. With the awesome fireplace, while huge and beautiful I'd guess much of the heat from any fire will go out the chimney. You might think about putting in a wood burning stove. Something made with soapstone might be ideal as it is supposed to retain the heat from a fire then slowly release it. I've never used one but I know with the older cast iron stoves they release heat very fast so as soon as the fire is out, the heat soon leaves. Anyway, congratulations on your purchase. That place is just amazing!

Absolutely beautifully designed, great architecture, attending the natural light and offering beautiful, suitable living spaces. Someone apparently cared to keep at least one eye on the statics, I hope you might be able to remove the later created supporting structures without changing too much of the original design. Congratulations! Hope you will share more of this architectural adventure. Would love to go along with it.
