I think this proves NASCAR's plan for Auto Club is pretty solid. That track is essentially the same shape, just half a mile long. I personally believe symmetrical ovals, as boring as they look, actually provide the best NASCAR racing. The more you curve the straightaways the shorter the corners are. Shorter corners can be taken at higher speeds, meaning less braking. Symmetrical straightaways also mean optimized gearing entering all corners. What I'm trying to say is put Atlanta back the way it was.

It’s a shame that we lost a great 2 mile oval to get another short track on the calendar. A total catch 22 for NASCAR fans. Auto Club was the better Michigan. Perhaps in the future they could reprofile Michigan to make it more like Auto Club. Would certainly encourage me to go back to seeing NASCAR races there since it’s the closest track.

@@AJ13688 honestly I think Michigan is about to enter a golden era of sorts for the track. the surface is 11 years old now, and the car being ran fits tracks like that a lot better than the gen6 did (at least late gen6)

So I asked ChatGPT-4 the same question, and it gave a much different, but much more realistic result. It would make a cool follow up in the future, I know making a track is not easy though. My prompt: How would you create the perfect NASCAR oval, starting with how long it is, what shape it would be, and how much banking would it have? Also, how long would the corners be? Response: "Creating the perfect NASCAR oval is subjective and depends on the preferences of the designer, drivers, and fans. However, we can outline some general characteristics that would make for an exciting and competitive track. Here's a suggestion for a "perfect" NASCAR oval: Length: A 1.5-mile track would be ideal, as it would combine the high speeds of superspeedways with the close racing of short tracks. Shape: A quad-oval or a D-shaped oval would provide unique racing lines and opportunities for passing. This shape allows for different racing strategies and encourages side-by-side racing, enhancing the competition and entertainment value. Banking: Variable banking, with progressively steeper banking from the bottom to the top, would create multiple racing grooves, allowing drivers to choose their preferred lines. For example, the banking could start at 12 degrees at the bottom and increase to 24 degrees at the top. Corner Length: The ideal corner length would be determined by the track's overall length and shape. For a 1.5-mile quad-oval or D-shaped oval, corners with a radius of approximately 800 to 1000 feet would provide a balance between speed and handling challenges for the drivers. These characteristics would create a thrilling and competitive racing environment for both drivers and fans. However, it's important to remember that a "perfect" oval is subjective, and different people may have different preferences for track design." My Prompt: How wide would the track be? How long should pit road be, and what should pit road speed be Response: "Track Width: The ideal track width for a 1.5-mile oval should provide enough space for drivers to race side-by-side and execute passes while maintaining a challenging and competitive environment. A width of 58-60 feet would be suitable for the straightaways, while 72-80 feet would be appropriate for the corners to allow multiple racing grooves and side-by-side racing. Pit Road Length: The length of pit road depends on the number of pit stalls required to accommodate all participating teams. Typically, each pit stall is around 26 to 30 feet long. Assuming a 40-car field and allowing for some extra space for entry, exit, and maneuvering, a pit road length of approximately 1,200 to 1,500 feet would be appropriate. Pit Road Speed: The pit road speed limit should prioritize driver and crew safety while still offering strategic opportunities for teams. For a 1.5-mile oval, a pit road speed limit of 45 to 55 mph would be suitable. The chosen speed limit should consider factors such as track layout, pit road design, and pit stall spacing to ensure the safety of all involved personnel. These recommendations are based on current NASCAR track standards and practices. However, they can be adjusted according to specific design requirements, preferences, and safety considerations."

Would you two consider doing a video of a reconfiguration of Texas Motor Speedway into a 1.5 D Oval as a "little sister" track to Michigan? We all know they've been thinking about the future of the track and some of us would like to see our options. This is one that I've come up with personally as something different for the track that's also unique compared to others. There is not a track like this in existence at this length and it might be just what the doctor ordered... or maybe not. Anything but a superspeedway. It's just a thought. Or maybe try your own reconfiguration of the track and share it with us? Keep the same general footprint of the track. Backstretch Banking: 5-degrees Backstretch Length: 1,330 feet Frontstretch Banking: 9-degrees Frontstretch Length: 2,250 feet Straightaway Width: 45 feet Surface: Asphalt Turns 1 & 2 Banking: 16 to 18-degrees progressive banking (or just 18-degrees) Turns 1 & 2 Radius: 750 feet Turns 1 & 2 Width: 60 feet Turns 3 & 4 Banking: 16 to 18-degrees progressive banking (or just 18-degrees) Turns 3 & 4 Radius: 750 feet Turns 3 & 4 Width: 60 feet

What would be a fun idea would be to get it to design "THE WORST NASCAR TRACK"
@ZIGAG1999
@ZIGAG1999 Жыл бұрын
So i decided to go to ChatGPT and do this while watching the video. i used similar wording but formatted it differently. What I typed out: Design a Perfect NASCAR Oval Race Track: - How long is it? - What shape is it? - How much banking? - How long are the corners? What ChatGPT gave back and yes it is different to the track in the video. Length: A NASCAR oval race track should be between 1.5 to 2.5 miles long. A longer track can provide more opportunities for overtaking and strategy, but it can also increase the risk of accidents due to higher speeds. Shape: The most common shape for an oval race track is an egg-shaped layout, where the two straightaways are of different lengths, and the corners have different radii. This design can make the racing more exciting and unpredictable, as the drivers need to adjust their speed and line differently in each turn. Banking: The banking of the track is crucial for allowing the cars to maintain higher speeds and stay on the racing line. Ideally, the banking should be between 18 to 33 degrees, with the steepest angle in the turns. The specific angle can depend on the track's length and shape, as well as the type of cars that will race on it. Corner length: The length of the corners can also vary depending on the track's design, but typically they should be long enough to allow the drivers to build up speed and momentum, but not too long that it slows down the race. A good rule of thumb is to have the corners take up between a quarter to a third of the track's total length.

I understand your point, but regardless, I asked chatgpt a question and it gave me an answer. I have never asked this. So someone can tell me or direct me to the right place. I have NR2002 (never did get 2003). It stopped working somewhere around windows 10. It got to old and would not install on my last 2 newest computers. How do I get the game installed on newer windows systems? I have the hard copy CD. As a small side note, I got into real racing and stopped buying newer PC games in the early 2000’s and then I had The Arca game some people were using for a while then I got into iracing. I didn’t even know they made NR2003 until probably 2010. So I was super late to the party.
