Awesome video! I’m 36 and home theater has been a HUGE passion of mine for half of my life. Finally bought my first house after renting for a long time and it has a fully finished basement. First problem I had was dealing with the sound absorption from the drop ceiling tiles now that is taken care of on to covering the windows and this turned out to be your latest video! Funny how things happen. Keep up the awesome work!

Very nice, less messy than what I did. I used black latex paint and painted my two big windows and then covered it with a blackout curtain that was already there trying to block the light. The latex paint is very easy to remove from the glass with a razor blade if you have to.

@@ScottReviews There is a way to do something very similar with a Pyles speaker bracket off Amazon and gas pipe from any home center. Just have to cut the pipe to length and have welded to the bracket. Had to do this with my 502S side surround no wall beside the couch so it comes down from the ceiling on a bracket. I have pictures if your interested.

Thermal heat buildup can crack window glass and cause excessive expansion and contraction of your window unit greatly decreasing the window seals service life. It would be money well spent to simply purchase blackout shades which are now widely available in either manual or motorized units and wouldn’t void your warranty

My instinct is to paint the OUTSIDE of the glass pane WHITE to reflect the light away. It should also keep the window cool and hopefully keep it from cracking. What's on the inside pane of the window shouldn't matter, because you're trying to keep the outside light from coming in, not stop inside light from reflecting back (the blackout curtains will take care of that).

I've been wanting to do this in my open living room layout for awhile now. We live in Nevada so I'm thinking the tint till also help keep heat out of the house as well. What wasn't mentioned is thermal expansion of the glass. Unless a small area around the perimeter is exposed (film not up to edge) the window will crack when it gets exposed to direct sunlight when hot. The film will prevent the glass from expanding and will cause it to crack. The professionals us a credit card to trim around the perimeter the correct distance. You'll find out.

Correct they are supported. They are Klipsch RS 62 II. RS52, RS42, RS35 and the newer RP-502S are all side ported and are designed to fit flush on a wall.
@ImBatman83
@ImBatman83 4 ай бұрын
I am not sure why people worry about ports on side speakers when wall mounting. You are most likely crossing them over at 80hz and that’s well above the tuning frequency of the port. The ports are for bass extension and not very active above say 40-50hz tuning frequency; so most of your sound is coming from the woofer above that range. The sides speakers are not playing any meaningful bass unless you use them at full range if you don’t have a sub.
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 ай бұрын
Regardless of where you have them crossed over, a rear ported against a wall isn’t a good idea as sound and air is still going to come from the port and could cause its own form of chuffing or unwanted sound.
