Hi Matt, Having been a photographer since the early 80's I've used everything from Minolta XGM, to Nikon F2, FM2, F3, F4.. Canon EOS1, EOS1n, DCS3, DSC520, EOS 1 mark 3, 5Diii etc, etc... So a lot of cameras.. my main system is still a 5diii and lenses. But the Fuji Xpro1 is my favourite all time camera. The ergonomics take me back to the FM2, (proper aperture rings) ... and it is just such a pleasure to use.. I get a buzz just shooting. The lenses are so nice... I have the 18mm (the weakest) 35mm & 50mm.. all f2 and they are sweet... The photos are beautiful.. both colour and b&w... I've made 40x30 prints and they are just as sharp as my Canon prints.. Well I can't see a difference at this size print.. They are small, compact and perfect as an every day carry... With the latest software updates, the AF is fast enough, and I really can't see what an Xpro2 would offer... I'll no doubt get one when the Xpro 3 launches.. and the price drops.. the Xpro 1 is a really, really nice camera...

Bryan Rollins do you think the autofocus is fast enough to catch a bouncing baby boy?
@ricardodafonseca9043
@ricardodafonseca9043 4 жыл бұрын
@@KevinScandinavia when I had mine it was enough to do almost anything, but there's a caveat. It's not always easy. The single point af was fast enough, especially with the firmware updates. Multi point focusing was fast, but never focuses on what I want. Servo/continuous was not good. I never got on with that. So sometimes shots need to planned by pre-focusing, or zone focusing. I spent 100 percent of the time in single point af. When you switch to manual focus it allows you to autofocus with the back button. With a bit of practice it's very useable.

Great review, but I really don’t understand why anyone would NOT use the optical viewfinder. I own an X100f and I hardly ever touch the electronic alternative. Except from in playback mode, because then I don’t need to put my glasses on to review my own images. Very practical for an old man.

The XPRO-1 is the only Fujifilm I have not sold. Combined with the 35mm f/2.0 I found the AF more than adequate. I keep it because it has something the more recent camera's do not have. Perhaps it is nostalgia, I do not know but I like the output of this camera.

I bought mine with the 2 lens bundle for £499 when the X-Pro2 came out. If I sold it all now I'd probably get near the same price - which is unheard of in the digital world. The only downside for me is no diopter. I don't really like shooting with the display. Also, it feels vaguely "hollow". A bit like a Yashica Electro 35. I prefer a "denser" feeling.

I made a substantial amount of cash buying a fair amount of Xpro-1 on ebay all over the world ,after the Xpro2 came out. Because of the firmware-update for the Xpro 1 came after Xpro2, it was basically the same camera, but at rock bottom prices. It tells so much about the human psychological conditioning, and marketing . How to place the Xpro-1 into the original and the pro -2 as a copy. We all suck making a informed rational choice , and boy oh boy companies know about it XP2 is ALWAYS a better ticket for producing better picturer then XP1. My personal XP1 is still here with me, because its large enough to fit my gorilla fists. Its a substantial camera with weight , and heft, to it.

I have been using my X Pro 1 since 2014. I gave up my 5DMK II to go over to Fuji, first with the X 100 limited edition, which I immediately fell in love with, and then over to the XP1 which has been with me ever since. It's in mint condition and with the 35mm f1.4 and 28mm f2 it serves me well, shooting street and some landscape stuff. Once you get the hang of this camera, and you work with it as a team, rather than trying to go your own way and be the boss, you can get some very satisfying images out of it. It's digital, yes, but nonetheless old school, and you will need to get into old school habits with it if you want the best from it. It's slow, temperamental if you don't know what you are doing, and it will expect you, the photographer, to get it right first time. It's not a camera for people who expect it to get it right for them, so be warned. Buy one and refresh your craft. I love it. keithtowers.zenfolio.com/

@@gearreallydoesntmatter Oh yes i enjoyed it! And as every other review of yours, it makes me want the camera more! But i find it didnt help me choose :/ I know it's mostly up to personal preferences, but i am struggling to decide between the x-pro 1 and x-t1. The x-pro 1 is a little bit cheaper here, at 230gbp, and the x-t1 is 270. That is not a concern, as i will invest more in lenses :) But the thing i can't decide on is, if i want the left side hybrid viewfinder of the x-pro1 more, or the wi-fi + tilting screen on the x-t1. Right now i am leaning more towards x-t 1 as i never had wi-fi on a camera before, and when i had a camera with tilting screen, i did use it most of the time. But the x-pro1 is so appealing, and i am used to the hybrid viewfinder from my x100, plus the x-pro 1 should have a better one :) The other thing i am wondering about is, if i should trade in my x100 at the same time, so i can get one or two more lenses, or just keep it as it's a great walk-around camera :)

Some of us have faces worth hiding. I have the X-T2 over the X-Pro2 because I’m ugly AND poor. Joking aside, I like the in-camera tone curves in jpeg with the X-Pro1. It’s a big selling point to me. 16mp is my optimum sensor size for aps-c. I like small files that don’t need editing.

Heck, I even shot professionally with it last week. So much fun. And to be honest, I've come to terms with the fact that in most cases it doesn't really matter or *show* it's 'only' 16 MP.

Anything over 10mp and I would use it for pro work.

@@gearreallydoesntmatter lol, indeed. Also, my main camera is a Sigma SD Quattro (slower than my avg film slr), so in my hands an X-Pro1 is agile and crisp, i.e. I'm able to shoot turtles in action now...tack sharp! ;-p

I could not decide between this one and x-t1. Viewfinder on the side or the bright and beautiful EVF.

1st: It's awesome to see you review this camera. I had always wanted it but never ended up owning it. A friend of mine has one, though, and loves it. 2nd: Are you ever going to do a review for the Fujifilm X-H1? I just searched your channel for your X-H1 review and realized that, though it made guest appearances in several videos, you never actually did a review of it.

I ended up selling it rather quickly so unfortunately there won't be a review of it.

@@gearreallydoesntmatter Nooooooooooo! I just bought one! I was able to buy it brand new, along with the grip, the extra batteries, some audio stuff thrown in, and a high quality tripod, and a remote release, all for a grand total of $1,100. I am happy as can be! I was really hoping to see one of your awesome videos on the camera, though... I even checked your profile on DPreview and it wasn't even listed under your "previous gear". Mysterious...

I came close to xpro1 but chose xt1 for journalism fast focus Nikon manual lenses. I use Leica range finder with Trix film, but workflow builds up; So I am definitely picking up XPro1 for the range finder style black and white Fotos. I understand from several sources that sensor produces exceptional monochrome images.

Hi Mark, I am torn between the Xpro1 and the XT1. I would like to use my nikkor lenses I have for my Nikon FE as well. My heart says Xpro1 my head XT1 basically cause of the EVF. I don‘t need speed I don‘t need video. I take pics for my own enjoyment basically to slow down from ‚life‘ so the Xpro1 could be it. But I rely on the EVF a lot on my x100t. Tried to use the OVF....it is challanging....but maybe I need to go that route.... May I ask your opponion and experience with the cameras. Very much appreciated, cheers from Switzerland, Mitch

I love the x pro 1, but I still think the x-e1 is the sleeper in the Fuji lineup. For much less than the X pro, you get the same sensor, a better EVF, and a smaller package! It's a win-win for me, I love mine! Unless you need the OVF, I think it's X-E1 all the way. Both are great though :)

Still love my Xpro1 even I use the Xpro2 as my main body. The only thing that is missing is the classic chrome profile which I use all time for color with Xpro2. The new Xpro3 seems to have a much better viewfinder and better build quality, so quite interesting.

I bought myself a X-E1 as a backup camera for around 120€, but I find myself using it more often than my Sony a7 because its so enjoyable to use and the colors are more pleasant to the eye than with Sony cameras, especially in low light situations.

Nice video, the XPro1 is awesome, I have had mine for 10 years, love it, I have the original 3 lenses, 18, 35 and 60, I have added the 56 for portraits. May add the XPro3 and 23mm this year. Oh and the camera works great with old MF lenses. Quirky but user friendly, small enough with the 18mm lens on to stuff into a coat pocket which allows you to take it everywhere.

... I love mine... my biggest problem is the lack of viewfinder diopter correction... The files (mainly in b&w) are just awesome... (at least for my choice) ... but now my GFX 50s is getting my full attention and time... 😀 Nice review
