DON'T SELL IT! That's a very good buy.. Miles mean NOTHING with a 7.3, ive seen low mileage ones beat to death and running poorly and others with 400k looking and running like brand new.. The 99s and 2000s were the "special" ones, only 2 years they came with forged rods... All others had pmrs, powdered metal.. I don't recommend tuning but that motor can take a serious amount of tuning. They can be a bit of a basket case to diagnose if not running well, but you can set it up perfectly and stay under 10k if you're smart with it (my lml dmax is $10k sitting on a pallet with cut wires lol)... Injectors are cheap enough now and honestly not too bad to change.. Take a look at your icp values might be able to get these with torque pro, this will give you a picture of your high pressure oil system health to stay ahead of any common issues. The oil leak could be the turbo pedestal, pretty common, all this stuff is so well documented you will never have a problem you can't look up... If the truck hard starts in cold weather but is perfect the rest of the year, you have a slightly leaky injector, and you can do just one, no problem, been through this several times believe me.. There are ways to diagnose it by temperature on the manifold etc.. I almost forgot there are shims that will stop the stiction in cold weather you install under the injector solenoids that will fix cold starting too, waaaaaaaaay easier to try that first if necessary 👌 If it's a perfect runner, change the oil every 5k rotella t6 (NEVER lucas )for the injectors and itll stay that way and it will run another 350k... period.. And you can dump tcw3 2 stroke oil in the fuel or trans fluid lol, it will burn anything, and no worries about emissions systems... Clunk can be carrier or pinion bearings, check the driveline with wheels off the ground, ive seen loose pinions more on the sterling but that d80 is a lootttttttttttt stronger, pretty equivalent to the newest stuff actually, a very very strong rearend! BTW, the lower seat leather can be scavenged from any f series or expedition, youre welcome :) DON'T SELL IT

They are known for the "mechanical diode" going out, just a one way bearing, the majority of the time all it means is you have to let off for the 3-4 shift and results in no other issues "most of the time " the 4r100 is a really strong trans when left stock or maybe plus 80hp max you wouldn't believe what these will tow, 4 cars no problem with a 1 ton anyway..

Please don't sell your self short. list that gmc for 4k and take $3,500. Yes i understand content creation bringing money but. You still need to Bank money from your sells.or money on house payments & rehab. A shop build and a dealers licence. Plus payments on your black beauty are all taxing your income your bleeding green atm.. you need to start selling like a dealership. To get that money for the bigger picture. 15 on the vet 15 on the Porsche. Is bout 30k that it self will pay for the house ... Then you'll need to snatch up a few more cheap hi profit car's to flip then your shop will be at hand. Now im not being trollish. I truly Love your content. I just want to see you succeed And not fail. But as i said you gotta start selling your flips at market values or your gonna shoot your self in the foot. Good luck Randy

I've got a 99 F350 with about the same mileage. It's a great truck once you learn all the weak points. (Mostly sensors) mechanically those 7.3's just don't quit. Keep a good air filter on it as any dust in the engine will ruin it and cause loss of compression and excessive blow-by out the oil fill cap.

Truck looks a good buy Randy, sell the GMC & the Porsche & the Corvette so you can raise some serious cash to help pay for the new tyres & shocks etc on the new truck, that's my personal advice, you don't want any debt if you can help it as it costs interest. Sell anything you have that's surplus to your present requirements to raise hard cash to fund getting your traders licence & shop built & new house fit to live in etc. These things will allow you to make money. I f you give up renting your home & move in to your new property that rent money will be a big saving every month. As you have spent so much money of the truck I suggest you keep it long term to get the use out of the new tyres & parts, after all you paid for them, why let a punter buy it cheap to benefit & you lose money ? I bought my first car aged 17 for 25 UK POUNDS CASH & my last car , a brand new out the show room as I retired aged 65 for 24,000 UK pounds, all of them were cash buys, no credit so no interest paid to finance companies, better off in my pocket !! If I could not afford cash I did without until I could afford ! Best of luck with the new stage in your life, look after Tim, your fiance & Nick & Weird Beard, you all make a great team together.

The best advice by far... Rent both houses, and buy another one, THAT is how you become wealthy.. Not cars.... Cars will however pay the bills very very well, had 3 different lots of my own and almost never lost money... Of course you will sometimes but the wins more than make up for the losers... I got a ccsb 7.3 4x4 last yr 178k 5000 at the auction with a fresh trans, trans shop was selling it to recoup their repairs, and got a cab chassis 5 spd reg cab dodge ctd with 180k with a nice flatbed last year $4500, that was a $13k truck!

I think that bent steering stabiliser, the pulling to the right and the missing chrome steel rim all indicate that it's slid into a kerb at some point. It would be worth checking out all the suspension components on the front right corner as there may be some damage there, though with it being a 4wd they're all likely to be pretty solid, but don't be surprised if the hub bearing on that corner starts getting noisy pretty soon as that and the steering components will have taken most of the load from the hit so the bearings will probably be on borrowed time if they haven't already been replaced...

One thing that's worth saying, make sure you use a diesel lubricant additive in the fuel. Diesel fuel these days is ultra-low sulphur content, the sulphur was put in the diesel as a lubricant, just like lead was in petrol/gas. Older diesels were made to use the sulphur in the diesel as a lubricant so you need the additive to replace the missing sulphur or things like the injectors and injection pump will wear out quickly...

I use one daily for one of my lawn crews and I use mine everyday for pulling a dump trailer and skid steer for my tree business. Best work truck u will ever have. They still run between $12-15k so ur well under the price range so u did well. I only run Rotella and load up when it’s on sale and 5en do my oil changes. I change between 5-7K between oil changes.

If you are planning on keeping this truck you should considering using a waterless cooling fluid (eg Evans). The major advantage is they eliminate the primary cause of coolant system failure: corrosion. Most water pump failures are caused by corrosion, without water there is no corrosion and consequently no need to replace the coolant. The only disadvantage to waterless coolants is they are more expensive and require a complete drain and flush of the old coolant which is more involved than a typical coolant “refresh” style coolant change employed by most repair shops.

Diesels are very popular here in Europe. Usually is common to check and eventually replace the glow plugs, purge the water from the diesel filter, change air filter (a must) and clean the injectors. This is an old school truck without the ridiculous complexities of nowadays Diesels.

You could save a lot on wheels if you just buy a set of new take-offs from marketplace. People are always changing the rims on their trucks. For $700, you have lots of options. You can also put the 2004 headlights on your truck, which will be a huge improvement for about $220 from a dealer.

First off great truck. A few easy ways to check the engine.....with engine warm and idling take the oil fill cap off and see if there is any blow by coming out of the valve cover a little is normal. Since you have just had the oil changed keep track every 100 miles for consumption. For the turbo take off the air cleaner tube and grip the center of the compressor turbine and gently try and move it side to side. There should be no movement. Thanks for the videos. I had a 1995 with 350k and loved it.

Randy, Firestone is the biggest ripoff in town. Several years ago I went to have an alignment on my 2000 Durango. They told me the front wheel bearing was going bad and needed replaced ASAP. They wanted almost $1900.00 to install it. They tried to tell me it would take several hours labor and the part was very expensive. Took it home, paid retail for the best hub bearing assembly @ Autozone $75.00. It took me less than 45 min. to replace the part and rotate the tires.

Nice truck man! Hay just a Peace of advice, there is a plug on Diesel trucks that when it gets really cold you need to plug it in to keep the Diesel fuel from gelling. Also when it’s cold most diesel trucks you need to turn the ignition on, but don’t start it until a little light that says “ wait to start “ turns off.

I think you should get one of them loop roll bars with lights on the top, might be handy when working at the new house in the evening's, plus I think it will suit the truck. Definitely needs the headlights refreshing but apart from that it's cool 👍

Randy, I think you are making the right decision on selling those vehicles to eliminate debt and grow the business. Don't sell the 250 as it will come in handy to help you build. What you are doing now by fixing it up is ensuring that it will be a resource for you in the future.

I don’t know if you want to keep it stock. But the 1999 looks nice and feels nice with 2015 I believe conversion interior and front end clip. It’s a pretty straight forward conversion

They make a replacement turbo that is beastly. Also check the mid shift bearing on the driveline if it has one, with high mileage vehicles they go bad.

Just keep in mind that diesel fuel freeze when it get below 17 degrees you will need to put in anti gel. Also I think you go 15k or 20 k between oil changes. I change my oil every 60 days but I have a semi. Great truck also diesels can do forever when there maintained.

Great job with your presentations and your knowledge is impressive. I also like your optimism with ALL of your builds. You win some you lose some, but your abiility to see a good buy is pretty spot on. I will continue watching your builds. Good job with your explanations on all parts and repairs! Peace!

Just be extremely careful not to put gas in it instead of diesel, sometimes when in a hurry is easy to forget, a friend of mine just did it last week, and it is costing him an arm and leg to fix it, 😎awesome truck love it.

For a 20 year old truck, not too bad. Since it has dual batteries, check all the cables, especially the grounds to the frame for both them. They will corrode and cause issues eventually.
