Thank you, from a fellow Subaru Owner! (BRZ) Definitely going to be using this fix until it's in my budget to just replace the entire exhaust system.

After I watched this I went and bought all the same parts. They cost $21 at auto zone. I really like the idea of putting the small pipe fitting inside the pipe at the flanges that made it seal up really well. I ended up using 2 flange gaskets to get a tight seal. I also cut off the old bolts. They were just in the way. Thanks for posting the video. It saved me $250. Cost of muffler and resonator pipe.

I have a 2003 Subaru Forester with 2 inch exhaust pipes. Just avout all Subaru are the same. Turbo models may have 21/2 inch exhaust pipes.

Did you need the small pipe fitting to make the seal or the two gaskets did the trick? thank you

@@shahsmerdis You will need the pipe inside to seal the two pipes, and the clamps to keep them together.

@@roselwcampbell would a thicker gasket help at all ? Just not sure what the point of the gasket would be then. I'll order all the parts and have them rdy. I'm sure it will all make sense when I got it open. And return what else I dont use

Amazon $17.99 each delivered Advance Auto $4.99 each in store a no brainer,thanks for the video after research this is the best way to address my 2002 Forrester L flange leak ,the top bolt is missing due to rust,great video straight to the point.

I have a 2005 Subaru forester. I will be performing the same fix as you have done. Any suggestion on where to purchase the split clamps? I might just have to measure the pipe diameter and buy the next closest thing from Advanced Autoparts.

Hi there, I'm not sure i understand why the gasket and small piece of pipe is needed? can two gaskets fill the space if there is one? I have a 2013 impreza and looks like same issue.

I used the pipe is to re-enforce the original rusty pipe and used the gasket to get a better seal.

I've got a similar problem on my 06 Corolla except the pipe is completely severed off the flange. Would this still work? Do the flanges clamp down on the pipes?

They don't really clamp down on the pipe. So should work as long as you have the short adapter pipe to bridge the two sections.

Brush it off with a wire brush and put JB Weld on it. There's YT on how to do this.

Did the adapter piece fit through the flange gasket or did you just end up taking the gasket out completely when installing that adapter?

+Dane Broome ~ I did still use the gasket. Just had to adjust the holes accordingly. If I were to redo the job I would use one or two more gaskets just to get a tighter seal.
