Interesting video. You can take your filter to a glass shop, that cuts class shelves and mirrors. they will cut to size for a few bucks.

Good idea to use welding glass! I can highly recommend the kase wolverine magnetic nd filters, if you're a bit clumsy, they're ideal because the glass is all but shatterproof. they're small and you don't need the added bulk of a filter holder, just the adaptor rings for your lenses, they also have magnetic lens caps, so you can keep the adaptor rings on your lenses all the time, ready to click a filter on.

I will buy a welding glass to try out and if it doesn't have the results i like at least i won't be upset, especially when i know i didn't spend much money on it. I love doing long exposure photography this will give me something different to look forward to. Another great video Adrian thanks for sharing it.

Good call on the Welding glass on B&W LE photograph but there are 10 stop nds available at the same price these days.

Great point! If you can find one for a decent price, then it's much better than welding glass. Something to keep in mind is that 10 stops are not enough on a bright day, though. Not even the 13 stops that the welding glass was giving were enough for a couple of shots I took in SF, so I had to use it on top of the 3-stop ND I had for video (for a total of 16).

Nice video, as usual, Adrian. You've had a bit of bad luck breaking your filters, so may I suggest you take a good look at the Kase filters. They claim to be pretty tough, and I've dropped mine a couple of times...onto rocks, but nothing happened. Not even a scratch. Anyway, I have an idea which I'll have to get in touch with you to talk about

I like you are supporting other photographers in your last 2 or 3 videos I've found this interesting links. Also welding glass is of course nice idea, I don't use or do long exposure photography exactly for the reason as you said ND filters are not cheap and I don't know if this is what interest me to invest in filters, but I will buy myself a welding glass just for fun ☺😅... I would be good if you could share some camera settings for "welding" purposes 🤔👌

Why not try doing long exposure photography with that broken ND filter ? Just curious to see how it's going to look like.

I tried! But it was too damaged, the 15 stops require a long exposure time and the light leaks were too big. Like the whole image was totally white. Bummer!
