The most amazing thing was Land Rover thought: Well it work's ... does.. not... it?! You can kill someone by repeatedly riding a bicycle over his neck ... that works why don't the Chinese do that instead of a firing squad. Fuck it ... a cuppa and it goes in the new Land Rover as well. That continued for 25 -30 years.

I also own a 325i E30 for rallying, absolute fantastic car. For the problem with the gearbox, just put a gearbox of a E36 under it and it will go a lot better (shorter 3-4 and 5 gear). You have to 'make the gearbox fit a bit' but no big adjustments. For less than 100 euro you have a better car and more fun :-)

Please Chris review a car every week and I will watch it till the last second! I have seen all your clips/review on youtube the past week and you are the best car reviewer and driver. I just love the way you talk about the technical parts of the car and after 10min you drive the shit out of it :D Top Gear is just about acted jokes, fifth gear only cares about laptimes but you review cars the way it should be!

Excellent video. Brings back memories of doing my licence down at Phil Price's. The guy is a legend. On a different note I'm guessing there wasn't enough pressure in those trailer tyres, go for 65psi next time. Keep up the good work guys. I'm looking forward to the first competative event, I want to be out marshalling for that one.

UFG Vrgil Which is why he said "press car". I.e. a free car, a loaner. If you could have a Cayenne Turbo and a trailer for a day to tow a car, for no cost, why would you choose the knackered Rover and trailer evidently designed to haul riding mowers? Paying money for a Cayenne would be stupid, but borrowing one...why not. About the fastest and most comfortable SUV out there, if you're into stupid shit like that.

Awesome stuff! :) Chris the best thing you can do now is change that steering rack to a z3 1.9ltr rack. Its 2.7 turn lock to lock and is very close ratio to the BMW Group-A Rack (2.5) no more hand over hand driving :) Did it to my e30 / s50b32 and im glad I did.

i believe justing224 means a chevy instead of the Range. MUCH cheaper to maintain and simple to fix. And if you blow that many trailer tires I would check to make sure the leaf springs and axle are rated for the cargo weight. But it is nice to see someone talk about racing and driving to/from in view of real life. Your tow rig will have troubles and trailering is a pain.

Totally agree, Chris has a winning personality and he makes a great host. The producers at Top Gear should at least have him as a guest in the reasonably priced car even if he kind of is one of their competitors in the auto journalism industry.

My dad bought his BMW 325 off the showroom floor in 1985. It sat in storage for ten years and and it started right up again recently. Now we know what to do with it.

Ah I am reminded of the day I drove my old '83 320i from midtown Manhattan home to New Jersey during the great blizzard of '96. For the duration of the 50 mile trip my wheels were straight maybe twice . However I was not displaying any skill just trying not to crash.

In the Range Rover Classic, if your alternator is connected with the steering pump instead of the central disc, it is prone to get into trouble because the alternator doesn't get enough RPM to cool itself thus also giving not enough power to charge the battery

Or for cheaps fit an E36 rack, tis what i did to my E30 and made so much difference. Obviously the Z3 rack is even better but way more expensive.

yes, e30's are awesome and cheap, will be my first car for sure, but I am also quite a fan of the older 3 series or the e3 sreies from BMW, although the e30 is the best of them in terms of fun, speed and cheapness;D
