So there I was, minding my own business when quite suddenly I found myself needing new tyres!
Now, I could've chosen to go proven performers, but let's be honest that's not the Dicey Ricey way.
For the LDV T60 Max I've gone and got Maxtrek SU-800 all-terrain tyres and this video is my experience with them offroad for the first time since swapping the highway terrains off.
You’d better believe I’ve upped the size of these bad boys too! Now the T60Max is rolling on 265/70 R17 tyres.

This video is a continuation of the fun and exploration we're doing with Saic Motor's LDV T60 Max in the Luxe variant. So far, it's been pretty good but there's some stuff on the horizon that'll test it out!
And there's big news if you're in Western Australia and own a T60, we're having a T60 Event at the pines: e/2RpHatMBF
I'll be driving 900km round trip to make the event myself, hope to see some T60's getting out and about!

Good to see you doing your thing. Looks like you’re happy with the choice of tyres. I did a four hour run with the camper on the back and very happy with the performance, over taking no worries and just felt solid.

Hey, thanks for watching. Super happy with the tyres yeah! They feel good when towing right? How’d you find towing up hill? Always feel like people are expecting me to slow down on hills but the T60 seems to handle it like a champ!

I’ve heard the tales of this happening and it’s in the back of my mind when I go this low. Good callout. I don’t speak from experience however I am told that if I’m dropping that low watch the cornering speed and I’ll be fine. I took the T60 the rest of the way out on 12psi, thankfully without issue. This particular situation I got myself in I went down the beach there with 17psi rear, 18psi front. Just a bit too cocky! 😅

@DiceyRicey yup only really good advantage vs most dual cabs I've noticed is the underside is well tucked up so less body drag vs a lot of other new dual cabs with exhausts etc sitting much lower then the body line.

Howdy, thanks for watching and commenting. I have done fairly minimal “mods” to the car. I’ve got bash plates underneath and recovery points on the front and that’s it. Of course I have just stuck bigger tyres on it as shown in the video but aside from that, she’s stock.

Howdy, thanks for watching! These tracks are along the coast at Oakajee and in Geraldton. The one in Geraldton is sort of hidden, the other is just south of coronation beach if you drop onto the beach there, head south then up the river bed. Does the Pro model come with the tire sensors? If so - what did you do about them?
@DiceyRicey
@DiceyRicey 8 ай бұрын
The 2023 pro has the tyre pressure monitoring system, didn’t have to do anything special with mine, they fit internally to the valve. Tyre places will be able to swap them over to the new tyre or the new wheels & tyres. 🤙

So what are you going to do about suspension, cause obviously the stock suspension is well quite terrible, but now you cant lift it anymore?
@DiceyRicey
@DiceyRicey 5 ай бұрын
Haha, nice catch! 👌 The legislation in WA for the time being with my particular car is that the roof can be lifted by 50mm and that’s it. Standard roofline height is 1809mm so I can legally get to 1859mm. These tyres bring an extra 27mm of clearance so that leaves me with 23mm remaining before I’m over the limit. With the bigger tyres I’m limited to a one inch suspension lift in the rear, the front gets a bit more as the car is pitched. There will likely be a suspension upgrade in the future of the T60 but for now it remains on the stock suspension. Once modifications are added we’ll see what the drop in height is and then lift up to limit again. 😁 Thanks for watching and commenting. 🤙

Hi Ricey, I was wondering what you did with the spare tyre and exactly what is the plate that has to be removed . Checked my stock spare and its jammed tight against the towbar
@DiceyRicey
@DiceyRicey 3 ай бұрын
Hey mate, I upped the size of the spare to 265/70 R17 too so it’s the same rolling circumference as the normal set. I’ve got the LDV tow bar and it fit in there without a worry I’m afraid, nothing special going on there. My understanding is the plate on the drivers side is a wheel intrusion device that would protect intrusion into the footwell in a frontal impact. They’re only on the right hand side as we drive on the left so the right is most likely to have the impact. I also took the front mud flaps off and put rubber slimline ones on so there was no rubbing too. If the spare tyre is an issue you can get tyre mounts from ‘Sunrise’ that you can bolt into the tub head board and store the tyre up there. Uses some space but I’m sure would look pretty cool, like it’s a rally rig! 😂

@DiceyRicey
@DiceyRicey 10 ай бұрын
Thanks very much! I have had issues yeah, I had a steering knock and a squeaky exhaust component. Both I spoke to the dealer and they fixed both under warranty. No off the road time which is good. Couple of other things which resolved themselves. Drivers side auto window didn’t work for three times.. so I told the dealer and since then it’s never happened again. Didn’t even get it in to the dealer. I’ve also got the timing belt squeak when it’s cold. Replacement part is arriving at the end of the month. I’ll admit, I bought this ute because I was expecting it wouldn’t be able to offroad well at all and then I could talk my family into a 79 but dangit, the T60 just keeps going! 😅 I’m a Toyota guy and I bagged on these type of Utes, however putting my money where my mouth is has really proven to me otherwise. Can’t say my experience will be anyone else’s.. but Y’know, subscribe and see what ends up happening with the T60! If it keeps on going I’ll just have to try more and more interesting challenges. 😄

@@DiceyRicey yeah okay nice, so the issues aren’t major which is good. I’m not really thinking about going off road, but I love fishing and wanted something for the kids to put all their stuff in when we go to the beach etc. So you reckon you won’t upgrade to another vehicle, you’re liking the LDV?
