This guy tolerated WAY too much BS from his entire family. From their first meeting until they started “dating” he showed her she could take advantage of him without giving him anything in return. Plus, when he pursued her after their “1st date” he showed he was a chump/SIMP. He did her a favor (rescued her) 4x and got nothing in return for it. If he had real friends/family to tell his story they should have smacked him upside the head and given him a dose of reality.

A satisfying story. A genuinely good guy, initially manipulated by a selfish shrew, tricked and abused as she took endless advantage of his honorableness. Eventually using his hard-working nature and intelligence he struck back then found a partner worthy of him. Satisfying. One of my favorite stories.

So the fact that early in her relationship she demanded an open relationship would’ve been a deal breaker to me. Good thing about the pre nuptial. I got divorced from my ex wife because she was a cheating feminazi. I went scorched earth. The 304 in the story was also with make “study parties”. Stayed out all night after graduation too. No chance I’d have put up with any of that. I remarried and my wife and I became exclusive since we met. That’s been 20 years. My wife is the best.

The author wanted to write a good guy, but he lost his way along the road and ended up writing one of the weakest and most pathetic mc to ever be written. This is the fantasy of a doormat. Be the good guy, always, pat yourself in the back for being so good. Don't stand for yourself, ever... It would be a shame to voice your own desires or preferences. Then somehow, after simping for the new wife just as bad, you find 400 millions because why not?!! And now that you are rich and powerful, you can look others from above a pretend you have a spine when really... You didn't even get back paid child support for raising others kids.

I really didn't feel sorry for this guy in the beginning. He let it all happen, why did he accept an open relationship?!? There were so many red flags with this girl during the college days. And all this wasted time with him telling us how he rebuilt his house I get the symbolism but it was just useless information. After that meeting at Thanksgiving they would all be dead to me.
