Thank you, sir!! I got my first 2002 dyna wide glide and I am learning a lot from you! Bike sat for 7 years but I was able to get it started tonight.

Great to hear!! I’m going to do a series next on converting the dreaded camchain tensioners to hydraulic. Videos should come out in the next couple of months I hope. Worth checking the tensioner shoes if you just got the bike now.

@aronsgarage834 yes sir thats my next step. The bike has 37k on it and have no idea on the condition of them, so I'm going to pull the cover this week when I get time. Im getting everything ready for an oil change as well to get old oil out.

That’s good! Let me know what you find. I’m curious. It might even have been upgraded by previous owner, which would be lucky.

With the cables detached, the throttle on the carb is sticking and not snapping back into place. Google has not helped me so far.

There is a sliding rod on the side moving inside a black plastic arm. Sometime rod gets rusty or dirty and not sliding properly.

Hey, I'm stumped here, I am currently rebuilding the carb on my 2000 Twin Cam engine and, even on the bench, the throttle butterfly does not reach the horizontal position. It stops about where yours stops at the beginning of this video. It looks as the arm to the throttle pump actuator keeps it from going all the way. Any ideas about that situation. Thank you.
@aronsgarage834 Жыл бұрын
Did you take the butterfly out? If installed the other way around, it wont open fully. If that’s ok, make sure you have the rod in and float bowl attached. When not connected to the rod and the accelerator pump it won’t open fully.
@theeastman9136 Жыл бұрын
@@aronsgarage834 Thank you for answering; no, I did not remove the butterfly but this would make sense. As it turns out, the transfer arm to the plunger was "frozen" into its orifice in the pump lever and did not slide through it at the end of its run, blocking the butterfly. After soaking in cleaner and lubricating, it came loose and everything works OK now. Can't wait to open-up the ol' girl in the spring. 😎

Should you clamp off fuel supply first? Or just shut off petcock and let run dry?
@aronsgarage834 Жыл бұрын
Just shot off petcock. I usually put a rag there to catch any fuel from the hose.

What do I do if the cable screws are rusted and not budging. I’ve tried wd40
@aronsgarage83410 ай бұрын
Try to remove rust with wire brush or with a wire bit in a dremel tool, then more wd40. You need good grip though. A wrench might not do it. You could take it off the bike and put it in a vice, then try to knock it loose.

Hi, this is a 99 Twincam engine. Evos were before 1999.

Where did you get the bracket and idle screw from?
@aronsgarage8346 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. It was on a used carb I bought long ago, and just put it on mine.
@N013GS6 ай бұрын
@aronsgarage834 no worries dude, I found a long idle screw like yours just doesn't have the little bracket, awesome video. I need to do the cable tension on mine now.
@aronsgarage8346 ай бұрын
Good stuff! Makes it so much easier to adjust it.

@aronsgarage834 yeah I agree plus my whole Harley-Davidson is controlled from me by my chariot, so I want to replace my stock air filter and idle screw.
